Experience at Brookdale
If my loved one's finances weren't so limited, she would not be at this facility. She's not getting the care that she should be getting. Lack of attention. There are long periods of no staff checking resident rooms or even in the hallways. The staff is normally good at returning calls/messages in a timely manner. The marketing person whom we met with initially is no longer here. Offers/promises were made outside of policy and administration is now having to address them as family members come forward.

Fantastic Place!
The staff was attentive, engaging, and genuinely cared. They went above and beyond making this a place my dad would be comfortable. The place is warm and friendly. They care about details and people.

I thought Brookdale Hickory Northeast was a great place. They made you feel like you were important. Everybody we interacted with on the tour was very nice. The apartments were very small though and not very updated. Overall I thought it would have been a good choice for our loved one. We just decided to see how he would do in independent living first, whereas this Brookdale location offers assisted living.

WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE *****
[name removed] and [name removed] were wonderful. This is a cozy community that is close knit due to a caring staff who really care about the residents. The schedule was full and it was pleasant to walk through and interact with everyone. I can tell the residents enjoy being there and their loved ones sleep well at night because they are happy and taken care of in every way. I cannot say enough good things about this wonderful home away from home. [name removed] went the extra mile to answer every question. He is passionate and this is his calling. It is his ministry, and his gift. And I showed up on no notice both on weekday and weekend. Please give them a look, you will see what I'm talking about.

My mom was previously living in an assisted living community that had deteriorated during Covid. Quality of care was poor. I'm elated that my mom now lives in a Brookdale community. The staff is top notch and always willing to assist you or your loved one.

Compassionate staff and happy Residents
All the staff at Brookdale Hickory NE are supportive, caring, and helpful. [name removed] went above and beyond in his patience, communication, and assistance to aid with a very complicated transfer from Florida to NC. As I continued to visit (sometimes an arranged meeting and sometimes impromptu), I was consistently met with smiles and greetings from both the staff and the Residents. In my conversations with the Residents, I found vibrant personalities who showed interest in welcoming a new member to the family and who confirmed that Brookdale Hickory NE is a good place to live with lots of fun activities. I'm a registered nurse with experience in long term care so I can spot trouble very easily. I don't expect perfection because perfection is not realistic in life. What I do expect is for people to do the best that they can and to treat each other like members of their own family. These expectations are fulfilled at Brookdale Hickory NE.

Our tour experience
Our family had an in person tour experience and we would have to give it a negative. It was more much pricey to other communities we were looking at, but we do know it is skilled nursing. However the room they showed us that our loved one would be moving into, was smaller, no refrigerator or microwave and only big enough to fit a twin size bed.

Homely socialist
There are always rooms for improvements but we do think they are doing a good job and we know they are a little short staffed. Overall our loved one says she is happy there. The staff do a good job communicating with our family, and any time we have had issues they solve it quickly. Our loved one was able to bring her own furniture into the apartment which she really liked. Also, they are pet friendly so when I come to visit I can bring my dog which makes her and the other residents so happy.

Our experience
We chose Brookdale at the time mainly because of the all inclusive pricing and just the conversation with the director about the quality of care that he said they could provide. After we got him here, there was a lot of inconsistency in what the director was saying vs what the nursing staff said they could provide based on his condition. We were here during covid so he was not able to utilize everything the facility had to offer.

One of the Cleanest, Affordable Places I Found
The staff are friendly, and they're very helpful trying to work with you on financial issues. The care was good overall. The only issue we had was it took a little longer to answer the call button than we would have liked on a couple of occasions, but they could have just been busy. Also, a couple of the residents were just hateful. Aside from that, I would recommend this community. The value was great. Some of these places you could buy an acre of land for the monthly rent. Brookdale was reasonable, which was very important to us.

First year at Brookdale
We chose Brookdale Hickory because of the location. The room sizes here are small compared to others we saw. The food provided looked good and seems to be average. I would want other people to know when looking into Brookdale that the staff are very empathetic and genuinely care about their residents. I would recommend the community.

I would say go for it. They have been really good for us. Anytime we have called they are willing to answer our questions. I'm unsure of any activities they offer.
We have a small, single room. It depends how much you want to pay. My loved one was in a larger room, and we had to downsize because of the price increase.

The people here were amazing. I enjoyed the residents that lived there as well as the people that worked there. Their menus have a large variety for every meal that you can pick and choose from. They also have a full private bathroom included with most of the rooms. Plus they have an alarm system in every room and bathroom should someone need help.

Very Pleased With My Mothers Move This Community
We are very pleased with my mothers move to this community. She really likes it here, and is doing great. I know she is safe, and in good hands. They have a lovely staff, and they are taking good care of her, and her needs. They do a good job with the cleanliness, everything is very clean whenever I visit. There a good activities offered, and nice meals provided for the residents. We could be happier with everything they have done for us. This is a community I would absolutely recommend to my family, and friends.

She is still adjusting...
My loved one is doing okay since her move to this Brookdale. The staff has been helpful and welcoming towards her while she adjusts. The facility itself is kept clean and I keep her room clean for her. She is not very fond of the food. My loved one has mentioned that they have lost a lot of help and it is affecting certain things like the quality of the food.
