Very positive experience
I visited approximately a dozen facilities before before I came to Arden Courts. When I visited here, I immediately got the feeling that the staff were there because of their desire to care for and service the residents in needs. The patience, kindess, positive, attitudes and willingness to talk to family when necessary, exhibited by the staff. In addition to that, both [name removed] and [name removed] have been, and still are, overwhelmingly support in helping me adjust to this very difficult decision that I had to make. I am very grateful to everyone who works here-they are not only truly dedicated to servicing to the needs of the residents, but also to the support of their families. I would whole heartedly recommend that this community be considered for placement to anyone in need of help. It is a neat and clean community with a well trained staff- many of them who have worked here for years.

Arden Courts of West Orange brings staying at home to life for seniors with Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia. Inside the memory care community there are four “houses,” with a porch, living room, kitchen, and more. Medicare and Medicaid may cover some medical services. Arden Courts is in West Orange, New Jersey, less than 10 miles from a zoo.
Customizable plans are created and modified regularly to continuously meet seniors' needs. From doing laundry to attending doctor’s appointments, the community allows you to choose how much you want to be involved in your loved ones life. The community has visual aids and days structured to help those with Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia. This is a unique community. The care givers are top notch, friendly and caring. They actually learn from the residents and figure out the best care for the individual. My dad hadn't showered in 5 months when we brought him to Arden Cts and within 2 days he was showered, shaved and clean. They are constantly training their care givers and I feel so happy since we moved my dad in.

My biggest concern is the price. Not just Arden Courts as they are all expensive. Hard to sustain the needed funding for years.
The staff at Arden Courts are the best, friendly, capable and consistent. If we could give the friendliness of the staff team a 5+ we would.

Professional and caring
Thanks to #aPlaceforMom and #[name removed] for helping us find ,and decide to move our mom "home," to Arden Courts West Orange. We visited several memory care facilities in the area and chose Arden Courts because of the combination of professional well-trained staff, welcoming facility and caring atmosphere. We have not been disappointed. While our mom is still settling in, the staff recognizes her strengths and challenges and goes the extra mile to accommodate her and help her feel at home.
We also appreciated how well the move-in process was organized. Once we made the decision, , [name removed] and her colleagues were always there for us to answer questions, provide information and help make the transition as seamless as possible. Their prompt followup to every question, availability and obvious pride in their work and the facility shown through, making a potentially challenging situation as pleasant and easy as possible.

Overall pleased with the experience at Arden Courts
Overall, I am very happy with warmth of the community, the executive director and just the overall vibe of the facility. I am glad my loved ones are there! It's a small place and I feel that my loved ones are doing great there thanks to many wonderful staff. But institutional life has its downsides of course.
Even high end, expensive memory care facilities should be better staffed, and there should be more staff training. That said, I think the overworked underpaid employees are by and large doing the very best that they can! I have become very fond of many of the caregivers working with my loved ones.

I love this place but due to the fact that it is self pay I do have to move my loved one. They do not have where Medicaid would be able to take over and this would be needed for my loved one. They are very friendly at this community. Since my loved one is in memory care they do their best to stimulate my loved one and do workouts or anything to stimulate her mind. They go outside and more to work with the residents.

a place worth looking into
I would advise others to check the staff to resident ratio, and the number of nurses on each shift. The community is short-staffed and that was our main concern. I would recommend then the community if the staffing improves.

Overall a Great Place
I'm impressed with them. I think they do a good job, and I have no complaints. They do a good job keeping everything clean and organized. When you come in they make you feel at home, and they treat everybody well. My loved one is doing well there, so much so that often you can't really tell she has dementia. They have plenty of activities and keep the residents busy. I would highly recommend them. As far as I know, they're the best you can get.

Very positive experience
Our family has had a very good experience so far, the staff team always follow through with everything they say and they call us with any updates regarding our loved ones medication or any other changes. No matter how small or what is going on we will always get a phone call. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and they treat us as if we are family. The community is not has modern with decoration or technology, but they allow you to bring a TV or radio for you room. they also provide all the equipment and beds and dressers.

If you need specialized care, I would recommend it.
This facility has a good reputation which is a good thing, they had everything necessary to take good care of our loved one. They have a doctor, a psychiatrist there and people who solely specialize in the care for dementia patients. We have been able to visit recently and the food looks to be good but nothing that really stands out. Sometimes it does seem like they are understaffed especially on the weekends.
