We chose Addington Place of Lee's Summit at the time because of the overall feel that I had when I toured the facility. We are very happy with it. Everyone is super caring and they want to do everything they can to make sure residents are comfortable and happy. Both of my parents are here, my dad is in memory care and my mom is in assisted living. They help my folks to have meals together and visit with each other. Yesterday was their 69th wedding anniversary and I took flowers and cards up there and they made sure they were delivered and they had a dinner together and the staff sang to them and made them a special desert. They do have a portal where they let you know what activities they have participated in and they post pictures on that and respond to comments which is helpful. I would definitely recommend to others.
The friendliness of the staff members varied from time to time, the workers during the day and night time staff were fantastic, but the management was not good. Our loved one was in the memory care during the day so there wasn't really any activities, but from our understanding the assisted living had a pretty good program for activities. The food would be a three out of five, they did seem to have fairly well balanced meals. One criticism we did have was the iceberg lettuce they served for every salad, that had no nutritional value, as well as the canned vegetables. For the memory care residents they sometimes were given difficult food items to eat. Our loved one was in there for only day care, and we were able to see the rooms and they were very nice. The facility and layout is gorgeous it is really just a beautiful facility.
Please think twice about putting your loved in the memory care unit here! We had my mom in here for 7 months and should have moved her long ago. Addington Place of Lees Summit is very understaffed. They hire only the minimum required patient to staff ratio which is simply not enough for memory care. The facility is dirty! The furniture in the common area is heavily soiled. When we visited we NEVER sat on it. It's gross. The carpet is equally bad!. They never cleaned my mom's room. Our family always had to do it, even the bathrooms. They leave dirty, urine soaked laundry in the rooms for days and the smell is sickening. Their website is very misleading with claims of a "highly trained staff" ! Absolutely not true. We've moved my mom out of there and are so glad we did! Her new doctor in her new place was shocked at how much medication they had mom on! They literally kept her drugged 24 hours a day! We are now working with removing some of the meds and weaning her off of others. They were crushing pills and feeding to mom in applesauce that were medications which NEVER should be crushed! They had her on medications that were not meant for anyone over the age of 65. Mom is 85. PLEASE don't trust this place for your loved one!!
Never send a relative to the Memory Care Unit of Addington Place of Lee Summit. My brother was in this facility for 7 months and neglected. Due to shortage of staff (per the executive directors comments), he would go almost a week with no shower or change of soiled clothing (12 days one time). Money, shoes, clothing disappeared. His 90 year old mother would attempt to help him change his clothing as he would have his jeans on backwards, soiled clothing, shoes on wrong feet, feet not in shoes all the way (causing falls), and she even vacuumed the floor at times. We would have to ask to have his bathroom clean as this activity was ignored. We would find medication in his room, even though we were told they observe residents taking their medication. We found a pill cup with cleaning solution left on his vanity. Bedding would be stripped to be washed and then no sheets put on the bed for 3-4 days. We were told he needed a wheelchair as he had fallen - the wheelchair mysteriously ended up in the assisted living area being used as community property and they did not know how it got there or whose it was, even though his name was in big letters on the back. Staff did not know how to give showers properly. In a meeting with the exective director and the director of nursing, I was told “the family was too demanding, we do not have the staff to give a shower when we felt like it”. At the same time the executive director told the director of nursing that “we need to get dementia training for our staff”. Due to the fact they do not know how to handle dementia patients or provide proper care, I suggest not placing your family member here and look elsewhere. This is not the place - the facility may look nice on the outside, but the inside is a different story.
Very nice. they are in the process of updating. Said thye would have rooms coming available, possibly this week, but they don't have one right now

Hi, we are so pleased you enjoyed your visit to Addington Place of Lee's Summit! Thank you so much again for your feedback, we hope you have a great day!
I’ve thought a long time, since I moved my husband out of memory care unit at Addington Place in Lee’s Summit at the beginning of October 2017, about how to fairly rate the memory unit. My husband had vascular dementia. He had progressed to a point that he didn’t know who I was at times and became aggressive. They told me they could take good care of him as the disease continued. This was not true. They don’t have a nurse on site at night and the aids called in the middle of the night over everything. They did not know how to redirect him when he was agitated. They definitely don’t have the resources as mobility and eating become a problem with this terrible disease. My husband’s wedding ring was “lost” and never found. Their accounting was such a mess that I had to go and show them how they were trying to overcharge me by $1250. I would not recommend Addington for ANY one with dementia. I will always be so sad that I put my husband in this place.

Hi Diana, we want to extend our sincerest apologies concerning all the issues that you have faced. We strive to provide the highest quality care and standards for our residents and their families. We hope you will give us an opportunity to discuss this further with you. You can reach out to us on 81 6-[removed] or you can email us at [removed].
Probably will be our choice. It was massive (the hall ways). People seemed pleasant. Too bad small pets are not allowed. Sadly we believe the nursing home will be our eventual transition. Mom knows so many in this facility, it may be her preference over all. It feels like a community to her.
SO much better than The Carlyle, where I mistakenly first moved my stepdad. That place was dirty, had very poor food, allowed mentally-ill residents to live there endangering other residents, and did not deliver on its promise of after-hours care. In contrast, Addington Place is upbeat, clean as a whistle, and caters to my stepdad like he's a king. He LOVES it here, and says he wishes we'd found Addington Place sooner. I whole-heartedly agree.
My son and I went to visit our Aunt on a Thanksgiving Day. She was just finishing the holiday dinner which they served at lunchtime. We were very disappointed to learn that Memory care has no housecleaning. The care takers are supposed to now clean in addition to attending to patients. Her room was a mess and her bathroom was a mess. I took the time to fold and put things away. When it was Benton House, everything was immaculate. I don’t know who does the washing now for the patients. She is still treated ok, however no one has time to interact with her. Addington Place raised the rates shortly after taking over. They no longer have a patient advocate from what I understand. What is going on? Neither Memory Care unit has housekeeping now. She needs to use her money wisely, but paying out for non-existent help is not one of them.. I no longer get calls from the staff keeping me informed on her health and welfare.
My mother is better here in this community than where she was previous at. She is doing okay, and I'am comfortable with her move to this community. I wish they had a better organization with their paper work, and finances. There is room for improvement in those areas. Other than those issues this is a nice community. They have a friendly, helpful staff. They do a good job with the cleanliness around the community. There are activities offered, and good meals provided. It is a community I would recommend, my mother is in good hands.
This is a very nice friendly place. My dad is adjusting better than I expected. It was tough for this independent cowboy but he is doing very well. He is just waiting for his lady to be well enough to join him.
I am very happy with how things are going so far at this community for my mother. She is really happy which is the most important thing. They have a great food selection and the other residents have really been very welcoming to her. She often likes to participate in some of the activities they have to offer, they keep her busy throughout her day. Overall no complaints and would defiantly recommend it.
It has been going well for my mom being in this community. I picked them because they are in a convenient location that is close to my house. I am happy with the care, staff, and cleanliness. My mom has 50/50 good meals. They serve a lot of fish and chicken. They can use a better quality of items to make the meals. I have been encouraging my mom to try activities and the some that we tried together was good.
For our scheduled tour we arrived early and saw that the community was doing a fire drill. We got to see a room and some of the community. We did not get a friendly feeling through out the community.
My mother is doing fabulous here at this community. She has gotten involved in the community with the activities they have available. It has really been blessing with her move to this community. They are providing her with great care, and I'am pleased with everything. For the most part the staff is great, they have been helpful and attentive. Surprisingly she is pleased with the meals. Overall it has been a lovely experience, and I would recommend this community.
The care has been very good and my mom is doing fine since being here. Interaction between resident and staff is excellent. But I feel the memory care is not getting equal attention. At times the chicken is tough and the food has no flavor, improvement would be good. I have no issue with the cleanliness of the place. If food was better I could mention this community to others.
We moved mom into Benton House when it was only a few months old. My mother has falling issues and they have worked with us to keep her safe. The apartment she has is very nice with lots of room for her to maneuver her wheel chair. The staff is friendly and keeps her apartment very clean. They provide just the right kind of support by having an individual care plan. My family and I have been very happy with all aspects of Benton House.
Mom is doing wonderful at Benton House and she really loves it. The staff is really nice and friendly I haven't had any problems with them. There is a lot of activities for her to do which she loves, she has Jump right into a lot of new activities so that is really nice. She as only had few complaints about the food and it's temperature sometimes but over all its good. It has really been a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend this community.

Benton House of Lee’s Summit is so happy to hear about your family’s wonderful experience at our senior living community! Please know our team is always available to answer any questions you have and we thank you for taking the time to share your review.
My Mom is at The Benton House of Lee's Summit and is blissfully happy there. My husband and I check-in on her often to make certain she remains "blissfully happy". Only one "blip" to speak of which was handled expeditiously and professionally. Zero complaints, and abundant kudos to the staff! Our family adores them all!
no medicare, no storm shelter, did not check pricing, next to LS hospital, on the small side for active seniors; only a courtyard and dining area and library/entertainment area. Site faces a highway.
