Across the street from a spacious landscaped park lies ActivCare at Bressi Ranch — a memory care community nestled in a residential neighborhood. Since 2011, this homelike community has been located near the coastline in the suburban feel of Carlsbad, California.
ActivCare at Bressi Ranch offers different levels of specialized memory care accompanied by cozy living accommodations. From beginning stages of dementia to end of life stages, including hospice care, specialized care is provided by round-the-clock licensed nurses and trained caregivers. These caregivers stay up to date on memory care practices through educational programs. While all residents receive quality care, the community separates residents into five different neighborhoods — with semi-private and private bedroom options — according to the stage of dementia they are experiencing.
When residents are not relaxing in their bedroom, they can explore homelike amenities and participate in stimulating activities. From themed common rooms with beautiful murals to secured courtyards, this community has many inviting areas where seniors can relax. Needed Compassion and Guidance
In the long, difficult and painful process of searching for memory care placement for my dear mother, ActivCare Bressi Ranch seemed at first to be just what we were looking for. I felt like I could breathe easier at the prospect of a program where she might be able to thrive as a high functioning resident.
Everything was going smoothly and falling into place with the deposit, paperwork, and evaluation. However, the day after her positive evaluation, I received a call from the director that they decided not to accept my mother with no explanation.
I rarely give negative reviews, but I wish ActivCare Bressi Ranch had the professionalism and compassion to provide me with clarification and guidance moving forward in seeking care for our mother during this vulnerable and challenging season of our lives.

Excellent memory care
I have had my mother at Activ Care Bressi Ranch since Feb of 2020. I am always impressed with the staff. Very well trained care givers that are kind and calm. They are so friendly and loving with my mother, who is still a current resident. The activity director Carmen in awesome. The rooms and bathrooms are clean. Food is homemade and good. The patios are accessible and have updated planting with the season. The director [name removed] and sales staff are approachable and professional. I had my mother at a different facility and moved her, as I was not happy with the care and cleanliness, so I have experience, when I say , this is an excellent option for your family member.

If You Want to Be Involved with Your Loved One's Care, Make Sure You Speak Up
It is working for us. It is memory care, with that comes acceptance of dementia and the symptoms that come along with this. There is a psychiatrist who is on call to assist the residents when needed. The day to day caregivers are kind.

Highly recommend
We liked pretty much everything about the community, his care was good and before he passed away they called hospice in which was great. We have no complaints they worked so well with me when it came to all the finances. The nurse who was with him as he was passing was just marvelous, she was right by his side the entire time. She helped us call family members to say goodbye, and she was just truly amazing.

Sad for All involved.. My parents & I live in North County San Diego. In looked @ all local Memory Homes : found Bressi Ranch to be The Place For My Mother My Best Friend.
So my New Normal from Nov 2014/Feb 4 of 2017 was working ,going to see my dad @ his home picking up Subway ect..for lunch watching game shows/and then late afternoon going to mother's @ Bressi Ranch Carlsbad. I was w her Everyday!! Had missed 4 times from shear tiredness,. Yet She was Well taken care of & All the Staff became Family,Its a 5 Plus Star Home for yourloved ones..
They keep everyone clean& fresh & well fed!!!!.. And Welcome Visitor's at any time!!!

ok overall, room for improvement
There seems to be a bit of a disconnect between the staff. When I am getting feedback about how my mother is doing (how she is eating, her medications, etc.) I hear very different things from different staff members. We live very close and we check up on them regularly, and that's a good thing as we need to stay on top to make sure things are going well.

If they have openings, go!
She's been there for 2-2 and a half months and it's going fine, we're impressed with the palce, it's beautiful. She has on days and off days. Somedays she calls up and thinks she's at a hotel. This is why we got her there as soon as we could because to leave her alone at night wasn't a good thing so she needs 24 hour care because she's getting worse. On bad day's my wife calms her down and has her look at things that are familiar to her and it helps. She gets to see her a lot more because she's only 10 minutes away, we're doing what we can. Other than that it's beautiful, we're happy with the place, the price is reasonable, the food's good. We were even checking it out when they were building the place. Plus, it's a smaller community with only 85 people, the main thing was 24/7 care. This way my wife doesn't have to worry, I don't have to worry, I would highly recommend this palce to anybody.

All of our ActivCare communities do allow and encourage our residents to hang pictures and personalize their rooms, including furniture, to make their space feel more comfortable and at-home in their surroundings. While personal pets are not permitted in the memory care community, we often host activities with pet and critter visitors to engage with the residents.
