The facility is relatively small (approx 50 residents in 4 wings), secure, and I am not worried at all about Mom wandering out. The staff is very loving, caring, and attentive to mom's needs. I've also had the pleasure to dine with her and the food is always good! The facilities are clean and well maintained, and there is a lovely activities room and backyard/patio area. The decor changes with the seasons and has a very festive happy feel for both the residents and visitors.\n\nI can't say enough about how kind and caring the staff and management have been. As her condition has progressed we brought in hospice and they work together with Summerfield to ensure mom is well cared for. Mom has many visitors, and all comment on the pleasant atmosphere and attentiveness. Summerfield of Encinitas gave us options of how to move forward. We started with their amazing Day Stay program. Did that for a few weeks to get my dad used to the people and staff. We considered respite to see how he liked staying over night but after much thought we as a family decided to just move forward with moving him in permanently. The staff are incredibly kind, compassionate, patient and loving. Alzheimer’s is such an ugly disease and it’s been so difficult for us as a family to see this change and want only the best for our dad. Summerfield of Encinitas provides excellent care, delicious and healthy food, fun activities everyday of the week, and they even do outings once a month! We couldn’t be happier with the choice we made. He thought it a waste watching them sit on their phones while he wasted a small fortune and still he was alone. We started with summerfield of Encinitas just going to their outstanding daycare. He actually loved it. He quickly made friends with some of the live in residents. We had been so surprised at the fact this was a memory care. lots of the residents you would never have known. Like him they still could hold a great conversation. After about 3 months it seemed right for him to move in. He has been so Happy. He gets to have 24 hour care and companionship, he loves the food, and we are so appreciative of what they have done for our family. The staff at summerfield are outstanding. They do everything and more than we expected. Dad is not easy by any means. When we toured to say I was frazzled is an understatement. Dad had become such a skilled escape artist none of us could sleep, shop, or go anywhere. The police brought him home several times we didn't even know we was gone through the night. (payback?) Anyways, as soon as we walked in the door we knew. the community is welcoming, the staff are attentive and understanding. I must have spoken a million miles a minute because the executive director and marketing director looked at me and said let's take a minute and we will just let you know what we are going to do for you. \nFirst off they offered day care while we made all the arrangements. the knowledge and care they both took that day meant the world to us. They even took him in to lunch and to meet some of the other residents and pushed us out the door to go and have a much needed lunch.
