Assisted living communities arrange organized living communities and aid to your loved one who require support with everyday activities such as mobility or cooking meals. The services offered often include help with activities of daily living. Inhabitants may be kept under observation and assessment. Under certain circumstances, communities may provide hospice, dementia care, or respite. The state of Oregon has specific rules associated with this kind of community. Oregon Department of Human Services, Office of Licensing and Regulatory Oversight supervises this community type. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include maximize physical functioning, health services, assist psychosocial wellbeing, and 24-hour emergency care service. This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include must provide three meals a day and all food must be in accordance with the Department of Agriculture food pyramid. Before a resident is accepted, they must go through a service plan screening to assure their needs are going to be met. This screening includes a number of areas of interest such as mental health evaluation, ADLs test, physical health exam, and risk indicator assessment. There is a maximum occupancy of 1 residents per room. There must be one bath or shower for every 1 residents and one toilet for every 1 residents. The minimum number of residents for this community type is 6. Staff are required to receive education in a variety of subjects. These include: fire safety, the values of community-based care, infection control, and abuse and reporting requirements. Public assistance is available through Medicaid Aged and Disabled 1915(c) Waiver program.
