Assisted living communities administer oversight, care, and social events to people around 65 years old. The types of service provided often include help with the activities of daily life. Occupants may be kept under supervision and assessment. In some instances, communities may provide “aging in place”, respite, or Alzheimer’s care. There is a maximum occupancy of 4 residents per room. The minimum number of residents for this community type is 17. There must be one toilet for every 8 residents and one bath or shower for every 8 residents. Staff members receive education in a variety of areas. These include: job responsibilities, community procedures, residents rights, and securing emergency assistance. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include medication administration, activities, supervision, and personal care.
