I hired Home Care Assistance to provide weekend care for my dad in Carlsbad back in March of last year. We have a dear family friend we pay privately to care for Dad Monday through Friday. Home Care Assistance has Grace come in Saturday and Sunday and to cover on the days our friend needs time off during the week. Well I just received a call this morning at 5:30am from our friend that she cannot come in to care for my dad because she has the stomach flu that has been going around. She is supposed to arrive at my dad's house at 7am to make sure he takes his first dose of insulin!! I panicked!! I immediately called the agency not really expecting anyone to answer because it's 5:30am and off hours. The operator connected me immediately to Rosanna, the staffing person on call. She was so calm and helpful and assured me she will find me coverage. 40 minutes later she called back and told me they were sending their on call caregiver to my Dad's house and that she already walked her through my dad's case and that one of their Care Managers, Camilla, will be stopping by this morning to check on them. I can't believe how fast they worked at helping me out on a day I don't even have them regularly working for my Dad. Amazing! I was so impressed by their compassion and customer service!

When I called, I had no idea what to ask about and was very stressed. Fortunately for me, [Removed] was the one who took my call. She made me feel very comfortable that Home Care Associates could take care of my husband's needs and also answered all the questions I didn't even know to ask about. She kept in touch with me until we had a date certain for him to go home and found a very good caregiver, [Removed], who made him feel comfortable and trusting and took care of all his needs. At one point, we had a minor scheduling problem. [Removed] took my call at 6:00 pm on Friday and resolved the problem within a few minutes. She then called me back and let me know that everything was okay. She is very dedicated.

I honestly do not know how I could have made it through these past weeks without all the support from you and the wonderful care giving team you put together for me and my beloved husband. These words do not express fully my heartfelt thanks to you for all you did to make this difficult time a blessing to me.

When our father, 93, began his slide into dementia, we tried a number of services in the Bay Area to find in-home care. Home Care Assistance is a great business. My mother recently had a stroke. She needed 24 hour care for several weeks after she was released from the hospital. I called Home Care Assistance after researching and calling a number of different care providers in the Bay Area. I found HCA to be significantly better than many of the other places I contacted. They were more responsive and more helpful from the very beginning. When I first called, I spoke with the owner, [Removed]. She treated me with compassion and took the time to listen to what I needed and to give me advice and encouragement. She set me up in under 48 hours (yes, I waited until the last minute!) with wonderful caregivers who were extremely competent, warm, trustworthy, intelligent and easy to work with. My mother took to all but one of them -- a personality clash, mostly, I think. When I called [Removed] to ask if she could substitute a different person, she did so immediately. I was very impressed with the quality of the caregivers -- I've encountered other caregivers in other situations with friends and relatives and I really think the ones Home Care Assistance employs are a cut above the usual.

The driver arrived in front of my building early, called a few minutes before the designated time, got me to the appointment early despite commute traffic, waited until the procedure was over, and drove me home. She was warm, efficient, questioned if I was fine or needed anything else. Also setting up the appointment with their office was smooth, friendly, and reassuring as was subsequent billing. I highly recommend for any procedure where the medical provider says the patients cannot/should not drive themselves and the patients do not wish to impose on friends or family.

My parents are in their late 80s but still live at home. Their mobility is limited but they are determined to stay "interdependent". All of their children, us included, visit regularly and do light chores, assistance, and errands. But, it was clear that they needed someone to be there regularly to check up on them and their needs. Currently we have someone, who they are very pleased with, come in two times a week for four hours at a time. We hope they have her come in more often - when they are ready. This has been a good start for all involved. [Removed], the owner of this firm, totally understood the needs and desires of my parents and us, and how to approach the solution. My mother-in-law was looking for care for her mother, my husband's grandmother, and was getting overwhelmed feeling like she had to manage every detail on her own. Life savers. I tried many places, for several months, they all did one thing or another but these people do almost anything. They are flexible professional and most of all understanding and caring. Everyone they have sent has been professsional, nice and caring. If I said everything I know to be true about them you will think this is a fake review. This is only the third time I have ever written a review.

[Removed] has gone out of her way to help me connect with many supportive agencies, legal advisors and Alzheimer's programs in our community. Her guidance was sincere and a Godsend to me.
