Spring Oak Senior Living

We've had a great experience overall with Ivy Ridge! The staff here are very friendly and accommodating, especially so right after our loved one moved in. They were constantly touching base with us and checking in, and when we went to visit almost every employee popped in to introduce themselves. They really impressed us right from the beginning, Mom said she felt right at home. It's a low-key, comfortable, friendly place, and we'd definitely recommend it to others!

Things have gone very well with Spring Oak at Vineland, I'd rate them highly in all categories. We've been very pleased with the service and would recommend them to others.

Sherry Lynn is the admin and she is fantastic!! She worked so well with me in assisting me in getting my father admitted quickly that it only took 3 weeks! I am forever greatful for her experience and guidance to getting our situation to resolution.

Time had come when we knew that no one in the family could meet all the caring needs for mom's deteriorating physical, mental, and emotional condition. With much needed help and guidance, we feel blessed that we were directed to the Amerisist in Warrenton. First impressions are always most important; from the immediate follow-up call to confirm the on-site tour to driving up to an attractive building, serene setting, and being greeted by a warm smile. There was genuine concern for how our family could get through this process, which was the most difficult event we have ever faced. Every question was answered with no hesitation and each answer made us feel we were in the right place. Mom is settling in now. Each staff member has been so pleasant and obviously competent in their job. We have witnessed that her needs are all met, she is socializing more now than the past several months, eating better, and has more opportunity for physical activity. As of this time, we have had a great experience with a difficult situation. We call it a blessing.

Ivy Ridge had some great features. The rooms were very nice, things were clean & bright. The enclosed outside area with a pond & ducks was nice. I appreciated the connection with Vista Park ~ Jeff was very comfortable showing me around and Brandie was pleasant and open for questions. If and when my mom has memory loss issues, I know they will be on top of it with Vista Park next door. The vibe was more 'family like' and 'open door'. For the money, this would be my first choice.

First Bill went on a visit for Spring Oak, then Bill, myself and his brother went on a second visit. Our third visit we all went with including my mother-in-law Carol. Spring Oak was very accommodating with moving my mother-in-law in. They allowed us to move in some items in to her room before she got there. This helped her feel like a part of home was with her. My mother-in-law loves Spring Oak, she always has great things to say when we see her. We visit her once a week and we feel very confident that the community is taking good care of her. We never feel like we have to check up on her. Their staff is very friendly and make the effort to bring the residence out with other people and encourage them to do their activities. In fact one weekend we visited mom and she was busy playing a game. She asked that we wait till she is done, because she was having so much fun. Our plan was to move in both my father-in-law and mother-in-law in to Spring Oak. Sadly that never happened since my father-in-law passed away. When the day came for my father-in-law’s funeral Spring Oak went the extra mile. My husband had dropped off his mother’s clothes the night before. When he went to pick his mother up at 8:00 a.m. the next day, the community had gotten mom all dressed with her nails and hair all done. She looked amazing, which helped made this day more amazing and easier to go through. I would highly recommend Spring Oak at Forks River to anyone that is looking for a place for their loved one. Our journey has been much easier with having a community like Spring Oaks one our side.

They provide everything that our mom needs. They are very friendly and they have a beautiful campus and it’s a historical landmark. If you want a fancy new place, look elsewhere. It’s old, but clean. It’s a nice place to visit. So there are structural limitations, but everyone is so nice and friendly and personable. Our mom is very happy there. She is really happy now. I would completely give them a 10 for friendliness of the staff, if I could.

They took really, really good care of him. It's not a fancy place, but the staff is just excellent, they care about the people. For the money they were very reasonable. I wouldn't mind living there myself. They kept me informed. I was always comfortable with him being there. The social director was good about getting him and taking him for activities. The food is very good, it's all home made and freshly made and you can watch them cooking it. Even the kitchen staff, took an interest in the people. They were very welcoming. April was really great in helping me get him out of a bad rehab situation.

This community has a homey atmosphere. This is a small community and you just know everybody there. They have a small dining room and a large front porch with rocking chairs. There was a refrigerator in my husband's room and the food was very good. This is a clean well taken care of community!!

Our mother has moved into Spring Oak just this month. The staff have all been wonderful in helping her as she is adjusting to her new living situation. Everyone has been caring, attentive, and friendly. The apartment (a studio) is very nice and a comfortable size for her. The whole building is clean (very important to our mother!) and all the common rooms are pleasant and well lit. The interior courtyard is especially lovely, and all the surrounding grounds are beautiful. We're glad we found Spring Oak for her.

In a nutshell they are awesome.

Unfortunately, my dad became ill, and I had to make a decision on leaving him home alone, or a nursing home. Since I live out of state, I was worried about what to do. After investigating senior homes, in care nursing, and home health care aid options, I was given information about Ivy Ridge in Petersburg, Va. When I walked into this well lite, spacious, and clean smelling place, I was amazed at how inviting it is. Bright and pretty walls, with a "day room" for seniors living there to look at a pond filled with ducks! I met Mr. and Mrs. Jeff/Brandi French, and was even more amazed at the attention they gave to me. When my dad moved in, it was a transition for him and me. Mr. and Mrs. French attended to our every need, and when a problem came about, they were pro-active in combating it! There were some small and minor issues with some of the staff members, but overall, everyone helped my dad, and seemed willing to go above and beyond to ensure we are happy. My dad adjusted pretty much, and is still there. Mrs. French is active in the residents' lives, and she sent me a pix of my dad taking in the sun in a rocking chair on their spacious porch. There are imperfections with all things, at Ivy Ridge they are minor, and I would recommend this assisted living facility to those new to a situation of finding a comfortable place for a loved one, and feeling happy they made the right decision.

My father has only been there for two days. Transitioning to the facility was smooth and non-stressful for him. The staff is very nice and so are the other residents. I like the new leadership. They seem to be doing an excellent job working at making sure things are done right in regards to care for those who live there. So far I am very pleased.

The community is friendly and inviting . My mother is happy there . We chose Spring Oak because of the 1 year spend down option . Few facilities offered that option .

The facility is very nice. Clean. Doesn't have that "assisted living smell" that some others have. They have recently redone a bunch of the areas. The staff is phenomenal to work with. From the director, to the nurses, to the woman at the front desk. Everyone is eager to help and happy to answer the million questions we had. I would absolutely recommend Spring Oak of Toms River.

[name removed] at the front desk right as you enter through the community is terrific, so pleasant and helpful everyday. However the meals could definitely improve, but we would recommend Spring Oak of Toms River to other families.

Overall experience has been positive . My Main criticisms would be that they seem to be understaffed . Workers are diligent but they are very busy. Could be more organized . A lot of things are scheduled through the front desk reception area where communication needs to be better .

The frinedliness of the staff members is what really attracted me to Spring Oak of Toms River. They also worked with me on the pricing and kept the same price we were paying previously at another place - I really appreciated that. I would absolutely recommend the memory care side of this facility, the others I have no experience with.
