Review of Campus Commons Retirement - Sacramento, CA

Mom and dad moved in last July. Dad participates in daily exercise classes, and mom has tried a few art classes. They LOVE the Friday social hour with live music and often dancing. The food is good, housekeeping is convenient, and it is in a great location. My husband and I would consider living here when we get older. :)

I moved into this community 3 years ago. The first time I saw it on a tour it felt like home, and continues that feeling to this day. Staff is extremely helpful and takes care of all my needs. The dining room is well run and caters to special diets. The grounds are lovely and well-kept. I can't imagine living anywhere else. Our activities director keeps us busy with fun activities.

A new home for Mom....

Our family spent some time reviewing and touring the retirement/independent living facilities in the Redding area with our Mom. (The introductions by A Place for Mom were very helpful.) My mom is still quite independent (was still living by herself in her home), but at 90 years old there was a growing comfort in knowing that she could be located in a place where there was someone available to help, if needed, on a 24/7 basis. My Mom was the one who made the ultimate decision of where to go and she has been very happy with her choice. The main factors that swayed the decision to River Oaks included 1) it is privately-owned and has been operated by the same owners for a long time; 2) anticipated annual increases were significantly lower than the others; and 3) there is only one "seated" meal. Breakfast and dinner are served cafeteria-style. This might not be a big deal for some, but my Mom did not want to have to spend that much time in her day seated for meals! She has been there since mid-November and settled in so quickly. The staff is so friendly and the residents seem extremely happy. I find myself still somewhat surprised how smoothly and well everything went, including her acclimation to her new home.

Review of Campus Commons Retirement - Sacramento, CA

I moved into Campus Commons Aug. 2004. When asked how I liked the place, I replied "all things considered, I'd rather be dead". I hated my new residence but I can't remember why, I just know that a year later, on the fourth of July, I was sitting on the patio, eating an ice cream bar and watching the fireworks CC had provided, "I love this place", I said. I consider my self fortunate to be able to call CC my home. We have wonderful staff, helpful, energetic, patient, and not patronizing. There are so many different activities that there should be something for everyone. I believe people who live in this type of residence live longer as they are surrounded by others. Isolation is a killer. I hope I can stay here until the day I die. [with a smile on my face.]

Check out Castle Vista if you looking for a senior community.

I have lived here at Castle Vista for one year. The duplexes are very spacious and it is a quiet community. I have met many nice people and really enjoy the activities. The maintenance is great. I don't have to worry about anything. I give them a call and it's fixed. The grounds are clean and well maintained. The rent is affordable. The staff here is great and are always ready to help. They are always coming up with new activities for the residents. You can join in or maintain your privacy if you prefer. A perfect place to retire.

Castle Vista great place to retire

I have lived at Castle Vista since April 2014. It is a great place to retire. The residents are caring and friendly. I have made many friends here. The maintenance is excellent. One phone call is all you need if you have a problem. There are daily activities. Always something fun to do. I have a 4 bedroom, 2 bath. The utility costs are low. The rent is affordable when compared to other homes in our area. I feel safe and secure here. The staff is great. Thank you Dave, Jennifer and Denise. I hope to spend many more years here.

from someone who lives at Castle Vista

We moved in here after working here for 6 months. I have worked at 4 places and visited many and this was the first one I even thought about moving into. We pay full price and it is a great deal. I love the gated community and the friendly people who live here. The staff is great to work for and I love that I can walk to work. We have neighbors that really care and help each other out. It is the best place we have lived in years. Thank you Castle Vista for a great place to live and work.
