Very nice place. Rooms on the small side but very pleasant, looking like a bedroom, not a hospital room, pretty quilts on the beds, nice wood furniture, nice easy chair or rocker. 16 patients, two living areas, so can be private when I visit. Nice terrace with a gazebo, that runs right into a small park with a pond. They take the residents out there to get some sunshine and fresh air. Weekend staff very caring.

Be aware.

I was very pleased with the the care my mother received until the last time she was there for Respite care. When I picked her up they told me that she had been a little off that week. I took her home only to have her admitted to the hospital two days later.. The doctor asked me when my mother had suffered her stroke and that it had not happened in the ladies 48 hours. If they had noticed a change in her condition, a phone call should have been made. My mother has since passed away.

Smaller Community

My tour of this facility went well. This is a smaller community compared to others. The facility is an older building and the rooms are small. It just wasn't the place for my mother. It is a nice looking community. From what I saw everything is pretty well maintained. The staff was nice and friendly. They showed me all around the community. It is nice community, but not the right place for my mother.

Review of Andina's AFH - Vancouver, WA

I had only visited Heart Homes at Bay Ridge briefly. The staff was very friendly, but I felt the premises was a bit cluttered and closed-in feeling. Residence seemed to be well cared for.

I have not yet had an opportunity to visit Heart Homes myself, but I will be going next month. My sister has settled in quickly, and she has noticed the more relaxed atmosphere than her previous residence. Her husband has nothing but positive feedback. My interactions over the phone with staff have been very positive. I was especially impressed by a call I received from a staff member who helped my sister reach me by phone because she was anxious and a little frantic about reaching someone at a time when she couldn't reach her husband. The caregiver was patient and calm with her, and very reassuring.

For the price not great

I don't think for $4,500 a month my mother is getting the proper care. They over medicate her so they won't have to deal with her and she just sleeps all day. The staff is helpful and nice, though. But I suppose there are worse places she could be. The decision to put my mother there was made too hastily, and if I had any say in the matter she would not be there now. I realize she needs to be in a home. Just not this one.

They need more staff.

It's very clean, and the staff is pretty friendly. They have things going on but they don't always do them. They need to be more staffed, I was paying for level three care, and I wasn't really getting the help, they weren't doing what they were supposed to be doing. The staffing ratio of one person to 14-15 residents, is not enough I feel.

Looks elsewhere

We had our loved one here for just about a year. The care went downhill after a few months and we ended up moving. I would not recommend this facility if you want your loved one to be taken care of. The staff is extremely lazy and the ratio for caregiver/patient is not enough to care for the residents there. There are also no activities ever done with the residents, they just sit and watch tv all day.

PLEASE DONT TRUST YOUR FAMILY AT THIS PLACE

Most Staff are very friendly, but the Manager is rude and needs training on how to treat people and stop having so a know it all attitude. She doesn’t communicate well with family members and will have other staff members contact the family and their loved ones! As long you ask questions your great!! She has no professionalism! Your loved gets minimal care at best, showers are done regularly, clothing is always missing or it’s someone else’s! This place really needs to be looked at by the state. Very proud to say we moved our mom out! She made it a couple months before enough was enough! Also our mother reported many of times to the staff in charge of issues and nothing was ever done! It was always oh I don’t know about that was what you got from the upper management! It’s sad because it’s a nice building and could be a wonderful place if it had the right manager who is supposed to have been there 10 plus years!
