Better fit for independent living...

The facility was fine, but it definitely was not a good fit for my loved one. They seemed more like stand-alone, independent living apartments rather than a senior living residence. There weren't very many services available to my loved one.

Mom likes it here - it's a good place

==My mother's at the original Colonial Manor, the old rambling farmhouse on acreage just outside Hackettstown (& near the shopping center). She likes it. The owners care about their guests (in fact, they're extra fond of my mother because she, at 90 years old, is reasonably active & in possession of pretty much all of her faculties), ==Some of the residents are a bit vague & not active. The restrictions in this location are they don't keep patients who have bad Alzheimer's Disease or have other mental conditions that make them hard to handle (physically disabled, yes). The doctors come to the residents on a schedule. ==The price isn't sky-high. The food could be better, Mom says, but it's okay (she says there are too many carbs). It did improve some in the last year after they got a new cook (but I gather they could use some good recipes). ==Mom has a decent-sized room with her own bathroom w/roll-in shower (she uses a shower stool). It's big enough for her single bed (comes w/the place) & my old BR furniture (desk, chair, endtable, large dresser) plus a few extra things like a rocking chair & side table. All she has to do is make her bed, they do the rest. Mom also keeps her car there & still uses it now & then during the day. ==They run a bus to the public library & the shopping center. They have movie night, bingo night, & other activities. They also keep chickens, a guinea hen or two, & a couple of fairly tame pheasants that wandered into the yard after one of the big storms. One of the owners is starting to garden a bit. There are two little dogs (Jack Russell-sized) that are a bit testy to strangers (I think it's just a matter of getting properly acquainted with them). ==All in all, it's a good place. But they have to improve the food...

My tour review

This community booked the tour and the tour guide did not show up for the tour. This was not a good experience.

My tour review

This community was okay it just did not give me that feeling that I was looking for when I first went to the community. It was just not what we were looking for for our loved one.

Unfortunately, the Sales Rep could not show us any rooms which was the purpose of the visit. We got an adequate tour of the common areas. The Independent Living rooms are located in a series of stand alone cottages, three units per cottage, an attractive situation

Just not the right fit

We had a nice tour here, the staff member did a nice job showing us around and answering all our questions, the community was okay but we just didn't feel that this would be the best fit for our mom.

The facility was nice, as was Nicole. It was the most reasonably priced facility that we visited. However, as it was a converted hotel, the elevator was very small and the showers were not as safe as we saw at other facilities.

Customer service is excellent

I think the customer service aspect was excellent. I think one of the things I am noticing now that my Mom is in, is that they could have more activities. What is lacking for my Mom right now is there is not a whole lot of interacting with the activities and so on. The housing, the staff and the other residents are wonderful.

Would not recommend

My uncle was a resident here for approximately a year. The facility appeared to be maintained well Residents appear well cared for and happy The staff quite pleasant & hardworking. However, the manager/owner was a nightmare to deal with. My uncle wasn’t consulted before being placed at Colonial by his daughter.and the location wasn’t convenient for family to visit often. My uncle wanted and needed to be closer to family so my cousin & I took over to start the transfer process. His daughter notified manager/owner we & the new facility would be reaching out. The next month 1/2 exchanged was extremely unsettling & baffling. Manager:/owner was nonresponsive initially, followed by being abrasive and uncooperative. My uncle spoke with her several times, , his daughter told her we would be in charge of his transfer & it was only when my emails threatened exposure & legal action that things changed. Thankfully he’s at a new facility, near family & HAPPY!

Bad experience Mansfield location

Mansfield location provides nothing more than a hot meal and a drink having to move in and move out in the same year explains the loneliness here. overall wouldn’t recommend unless you have zero care needs. not even comparable to a group home which we moved out of from PA and sadly this was worse.
