A real find!

Mom has lived at Cambridge for a couple of years now, so I feel we know Cambridge living. The staff is exceptional; they are very pleasant and responsive, from the front desk to top management. The facility is spotless clean. Dining is pleasant with choices that change regularly and the chef and staff try to accommodate the residents. There are daily activities to participate in. When mom first moved there they introduced her to a few women, with whom she bonded with. Cambridge is a special place to live in your later years.

Cambridge-My Home

I have lived here at Cambridge Village OF Wilmington for almost 2 years. When my husband passed away in [date removed] while living in Florida, I decided to move to North Carolina to be near my daughter and her family. We looked at 4 different independent living communities Cambridge came out on top. One-bedroom unit was certainly large enough for my dog and me with a convenient back door opening to the parking lot. Activities such as bingo and po-ke-no are enough to keep me busy. Being a very fussy eater I can still find something good to eat off the menu. There are lots of friendly residents.

A Great Place for Amenities, Staff and Management, Activities, to get Involved

I would recommend families look into the community. The attention, activities, people that work there, all of the amenities are wonderful. The room is a studio and my loved one is very happy with it. We did have to provide the furniture.

A great place for my mom

I cannot express enough how wonderful Cambridge Village has been. It has been a perfect place for my mom. Through the pandemic, they have been wonderful. They have only had 1 case of COVID, so they are taking all the precautions. They have been very communicative, the minute the one worker had tested positive, they sent an email right away to all families. They have also had parades and entertainment for the residents to keep them busy. The staff members are always so helpful whenever my mom needs something.

Cambridge Village review

We really liked the overall look of this community, it was very nice. The rooms they provided were really nice as well. However, they could offer a better variety of food to choose from, or at least rotate the menu more often. We would recommend this community to a family or friend.

Glad i made the move

The staff was done a very good job keeping this community clean, the staff are awesome they are very interactive with the residents. Out of the other communities we looked at this one offered those most activities for the price. The nursing staff are available to come in whenever they are needed. This community has a great gym with lot of equipment, we have a beauty shop, and a doctor on sight Monday-Friday. We have psychical therapy, a message therapist. The activities are great, they have movies, games, churches services and bible studies. During holidays they have cook outs, they also bring in entertainment. We both are very happy here.

Assisted and satisfied

My friend who is living there is very happy. The community is always very clean and beautiful. The area my friend is in, which is a newer building, is beautiful. They whole community feels very updated and fresh. There is also a lot of community space. The apartments themselves are a bit small, however, the common spaces make up for that and allow for a lot of social interaction. The community also gives the residents the option to use their meal plan money for off-community use. They also have flexible dinning hours, which my friend has greatly appreciated and there are a lot great dinning options available. During the Covid-19 pandemic, they have locked down the community and paused many of the amenities and services.

Great overall

It’s a great place overall. The people are friendly, the pond will be lovely again when the construction is complete, and there are many activities to choose from. Shuttles for personal business only take place Tue-Thu, there is no evening meal on Sundays and the breakfast hour is only from 8-9am. Also, buyer beware: if you are hoping to move from one apartment to another, the wait is long (and you need to re-remind them) and they charge you a full months rent including the food credit/allowance, which is already quite high.

Loving Cambridge Village

My Mother moved to Cambridge Village from another retirement community in [date removed]. Cambridge is a beautiful community with so much to offer, she has been more active with activities ,the pool and gym then ever before. The friendliness of the staff from the time you walk in the door and are greeted by the front desk staff to being seated for dinner, you are treated like family! The accommodations and grounds give a resort feeling every time you enter. Having my Mom closer to me is wonderful but seeing her thrive in a beautiful community is heartwarming!

Mom is Happy and So are Her Children

Hi, We are very happy with Cambridge Village of Wilmington as is our mom. The facility is great as are the people who work there. Mom has acclimated very quickly and is busy with many of their activities. The only issue (obviously not their fault) is that they were hit quite hard by the hurricane and are doing everything they can to remediate as quickly as they can. Mom has just been moved to another apartment there while they fix hers. Her apartment had significant water damage even though she is on the third floor. The first floor was damaged quite badly and is still being repaired to my knowledge. Thanks for your help and the inquiry.

Cambridge encourages living one's life to the fullest

From the moment [name removed] walked through the doors of Cambridge Village she was embraced by compassion, love and professionalism. A vibrant retirement community catering to one's social, cognitive, spiritual, health and physical needs it immediately felt like home. Whatever one's interests, they can surely be met with lots of enthusiasm by both staff and residents. Strolling through the halls one may hear live music emanating from the pub along with laughter and voices actively engaging in conversation. Or maybe a competitive spirt is being tested in a game of shuffleboard. Relaxation may call for a movie in the theater or a walk to the wellness center to work out. The new MedSpa provides services to promote anti aging through massages, facials and many components of beauty care. Life is never dull for special events fill the calendar regularly with classes engaging its participants in new skills or revisiting ones enjoyed previously like painting, writing, card games, book clubs and the list continues. For those who want to spread their wings and leave the cocoon of Cambridge there are trips to local attractions, exploration of other areas of NC, the Opera, Symphony, plays, etc. The point is Cambridge Village's family prides itself on catering to the individual's needs and they are successfully achieving that goal. Happiness fills the air while positive energy abounds. Overall, Cambridge encourages living one's life to the fullest and our family can't say enough wonderful things about the staff, residents, facilities and environment. Thank you to all for making this a special place for our mother.

Thoughts on the Staff at Cambridge Village of Apex

I've lived in several retirement homes as well as innumerable condo complexes and have never before now run into a staff that was so pleasant, courteous, willing to help me in any way and cheerful about it all. There is [name removed] who cleans my apartment every week. She also works for my sister who lives nearby. [name removed] recently told her that “Your brother is doing better at keeping his apartment straight between cleanings.” Then she added, “But he still has a ways to go!” [name removed] is a gem. And there is [name removed] and her colleagues at the front desk whose “Hello, Mr [name removed]” resounds across the lobby when I enter. Or [name removed] who picks up my heavy packages from Amazon like they weigh nothing and delivers them to my apartment. Or [name removed] who greets me at the entrance to the dining room and usually leads me to a table with two or three other residents. It's a nice way to get to know your neighbors. But on those days when I feel like growling at everyone, [name removed] finds a table for me all by myself. Or [name removed] and [name removed], part of the maintenance crew, who would fix anything for me. When my central air/heat went out a few months ago, they were in my apartment within the hour and soon had it working again. I could go on and on. The folks in the Wellness Center or the [name removed], our massage therapist who skillfully works the knots out of my back week after week, etc., etc. When I read this review over, I was a little shocked. I'm a 92 year old crusty and somewhat cynical retired history professor who usually left red marks all over student's papers and rarely gave out an A. I don't write glowing reports. But, rather to my surprise, this staff has won me over. [name removed] Ph.D, Th.D

Cambridge Village is an outstanding facility. We had an excellent and thorough tour with [name removed]. She spent a lot of time with us and provided information on all the facilities and services provided. If, when we're ready to make a decision on our future living and determine that we can afford it, Cambridge Village will be at the top of our list.

Beautiful community. New facility with all the bells and whistles. Offers a wide range of amenities and services particularly for those in independent living. Residents in concierge care most likely will not be able to use all of the amenities. They off a wide range of care levels. The price is high and maybe worth it if residents are active and able to take advantage of the amenities. I don’t think residents requiring concierge care will get their use out the amenities.
