Great Place

They are very friendly and caring. They care about the residents. My husband has had a stroke and I am his main caregiver. They have gone out of their way to see that I as a caregiver for my husband get time to do the things that I need to do as well as fun things by arranging for him to activities while I was gone. It makes me feel comfortable and welcome. The food is great and they listen to suggestions. The staff is great. Even the new Executive Director helped me unload my husbands wheelchair and transfer my husband out of the car.

This a nice community, and our tour of it went well. From what we were shown the community was nice, and tidy. The staff we met was pleasant, and our questions were answered overall. It was a nice experience, but we did find another community that suited our needs better.

Steeple Pointe in Osseo

Steeple Pointe is a wonderful place. The staff are very friendly and call everyone by name. There are only about 55 apartments, so it's not huge and hard to navigate. It is right on Osseo's main street, so it has a small town feel. My only complaint is, and this is partly caused by the fact it is a small place, is the residents don't seem to participate in the activities. There aren't a lot of activities either.

My review

They really need to do a better job of assessing the person coming in. Every week the care need went up and in the third week they said he needed to be in memory care. Also when the care went up he was not getting the care we were paying for. Those are my thoughts

Experience so far

The staff is not consistent with care from person to person... great concept for care suites but no options for meals. It's all or nothing for price when my loved one eats very little food. We have worked a lot with them and getting needs addressed.

Smaller community w/ a homey environment. Just be sure to advocate for loved ones with higher care needs.

It's a smaller community with a a homey environment, and there's a warm feeling when you come in. I would just advise that you ask a lot of questions about the care that they provide, and all the different options that are available, as I would have initially done some things differently had I known what I know now. My loved one started out in Assisted Living, where they have 8 different levels of care. He ended up at the top of those care levels, which was quite expensive. And then they weren't able to accommodate his higher care level needs very well. We have since moved him to Memory Care, which is actually cheaper than Level 7 Assisted Living. I'm hoping that he gets that higher level of care there. It does seem like it's getting better. He's getting more 1:1 care as well as more attention from doctors. But just know that you need to really be proactive and keep on the staff to make sure that your loved one is getting the care that they need. Some of the staff don't speak English well, and that contributes to issues sometimes. I don't think they do a whole lot of activities. The food is really good though. They seems to have a really good variety, it tastes good, and portions aren't way too large. Most importantly, my loved one likes the food. And he seems to be adapting really well now that he's in the place he needs to be (in Memory Care).

Steeple Pointe is good, but...

A nice facility in a nice small-town-feel area where you can walk to what you need, if walking is an option. The single rooms are decent size and clean. There is no staff to be found on the weekends!! You have to look hard to find anyone except the food prep staff. The food is fair at best and mostly from a can, so not overly healthy but comforting to a certain age group. The price is on the lower side which reflects the lack of staff. The flip signs on the doors are a joke since no one is there to see them and act on them, and one side states "I'm OK" and the other side is blank. They are slow to correct problems also. If you have the money there are better places (Sunrise), but that is a big "IF" for most people.

This was an awful experience, the care just wasn't that good.

This was an awful experience, the care just wasn't that good. They were supposed to be watching my loved one who had a paralyzed leg. They watched him fall out of his chair, and then didn't know that he broke his ankle until two days later. Nobody checked it for two days! They were not good at all.

Not The Facility It Is Portrayed to Be

My first visit was several days after mom became a residence I found nothing about the place I liked. We had to walk considerable distance to get to room. Wait way too long on-call button she has bladder problem), food tasteless. meds not always on time, too much visiting at aides station, lack of caring and loving environment, wastebasket not emptied for several days, crumbs on floor, many of the people in her dining area are not able to carry on conversations wheras she can - its her body giving away. Many tears she has shed Looking to the future with hope of better times.
