Independent Living

For those who wish to live primarily without personal care assistance but would like the convenience of having housekeeping maintained by professionalls, an Independent Living Community could be the perfect fit. Basic tasks such as meal preparation and housekeeping are handled by staff and a calendar of recreational and leisure activities is maintained, allowing residents the autonomy to use their time as they wish, free from daily responsibilities. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy the opportunity to be among peers, surrounded by others of similar ages and backgrounds. Within the individual units, residents have access to a private living space and a full kitchen, and can even live with a partner if they prefer. While policies vary between locations, a number of residences allow cats and dogs as well. If residents decide they would like to enlist the services of private medical professionalls, they may always do so. There are a number of costs and benefits to balance while deciding on an independent living community. It is important to determine if these services are covered in your care plan: laundry, internet access, Waiting list deposit, transportation, private phone, meals, utilities, and housekeeping. The luxuries that pertain to independent living include security guards, community activities, restaurant-style dining hall, concierge services, fitness center & swimming pool, healthcare center, beauty salon & barber shop, and golf course.
