Independent Living

Independent Living Communities provide seniors with a balance between an independent lifestyle and not having to worry about housekeeping. Daily needs such as meal planning and housekeeping are taken care of, allowing residents more free time to live active lives as they wish. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy the opportunity to live among peers, in a community with others of similar age groups and backgrounds. Within the individual units, residents have access to their own private living space and a full kitchen, and can even live with a companion if they prefer. While policies vary between locations, a number of residences allow cats and dogs as well. If residents decide they would like to enlist the services of private health care providers, they always have the option. There are a number of benefits and expenses to balance when selecting an independent living community. It is important to determine if these services are included in your service plan: move-in fee, transportation, housekeeping, initial assessment fee, laundry, field trips, internet access, and utilities. The luxuries associated with independent living include healthcare center, restaurant-style dining hall, game/TV room, security guards, transportation, concierge services, beauty salon & barber shop, and private rental hall.
