Avoid at All Costs
I would advise everyone to avoid this facility at all costs. My brother was sent there by Memorial Hospital for Therapy and CARE. Within three days, he was gone. There was virtually no communication with my brother. I repeatedly called every day and night and was not allowed to speak with him. After calling the director, they finally allowed a virtual call with him; he looked terrible. He told me that he was in a small room and was never taken out of bed other than one time for 10 minute. There was no chair in his room and no where to go as a third person was being moved in. When he rang for help no one came and he defecated himself as he needed help to the bathroom. He told me this happened twice, as again when he rang no one came. I was working on getting him out of there not thinking at all that is was a race for his life. He had no care there and i do not think a doctor ever saw him because if a doctor had seen him, and he was this close to death, he would have been sent back to the hospital. He was left alone with no ways of communicating with us, which i am certain he wanted to talk with us or us with him. I am certain he was ringing for help many times and they didnt come until way after he was gone. They followed the skit and made like they tried to save him. I am certain he had been gone for quite a while before they even noticed. But because he was not well, which i always assumed it was mainly people who weren't well who went to the hospitals and/or rehabilitation centers, from the Broward County Coroners department who said they do not do autopsy on people in rehabilitation center to attorney general office and AHCA , no one is doing anything to stop this facility from operating or being held accountable or to have them overhauled. This facility i am finding out, as i do not live in Florida, is known to be bad even from people in "position" yet nothing is done. They are all complicit and rely on strategically asked questions to take blame and fault off this facility. “The patient was sick so they died of natural causes." "There is no sign of trauma" so his death is natural. Every explanation and excuse is more ridiculous than the next yet tolerated and accepted. Maybe because my brother was on medicaid, and i believe the majority of patients there are on medicaid, they are disposable because the facility doesn’t make a lot of money off of them and with Covid no one is allowed in so who cares how they are treated or actually NOT treated. I do know that if my brother was in New York at a reputable facility he would still be alive. .I cannot bring my brother back but if this place, which again is known to be "bad" was taken care of, overhauled, policed, my brother would still be here and we would be celebrating our holiday and life together. So if i get one person to not put their father, brother, mother, sister, son, daughter, friend anyone at the Hillcrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Florida, then my brothers death won’t be as senseless as it was and we can save another family from this enormous unrelenting grief.

Terrible experience with Hillcrest Rehab in Hollywood, FL. Stay away!
In an attempt to get an admission for a patient about 2 months ago, I was treated very rudely by a person who would only identify herself as "Kathy." She appears to be a receptionist or "gatekeeper" for the organization. She refused to give her credentials. I asked to talk to the director of nursing who always seemed to be "in a meeting." I called more than 5 times and was told that said nurse was in a meeting. I asked to be called and Kathy said I would probably not be called back--no reason given. As the first person in line to whom people have access to this organization, Kathy is a terrible representative of your organization.
