Disappointed, not at all what we expected
The staffing is terrible - there are hardly any staff still here that were here when she first moved in. She does not like the food. There are always leftovers because she does not eat them. Residents wear alert buttons - her button was not even working for the longest time. That is the only way to get staff to come to the room for help so that was a big issue. The stealing that goes on is ridiculous. A lot of things that I sent with mom disappeared. The billing has been terrible. When you get an invoice there is no invoice # or any way to track it. We have been very disappointed and would not recommend them to other families.

Response from The Courtyard at Bellevue
March 6, 2023
To whom this may concern: We are happy to address and explain the concerns you have listed here: - The staffing at the Courtyard at Bellevue is held at 4 to 5 floor staff: this is adequate staffing ratios for our current acuity levels in our Memory Care and Assisted Living. Our meal program provides 3 meals per day, prepared daily, and managed by our nutritionist/dieticians through our food vendor. In addition to our meal program we provide a snack and hydration pass 3x per day in between meals. Residents are provided with pendants to be worn as a monitoring system which allows them to alert staff for their needs. However, residents need to physically press the button on the pendant for the alert to take place. Staff is then able to respond to alert and their need. If a resident can't make their needs met, we can adhere a plan with our staff so that we are checking in on them periodically, such as in our memory care. In review, we show no reports of stealing have been brought to the attention of the community Administrator/staff. The Courtyard at Bellevue takes this concern seriously and holds a strict protocol on theft once reported. In Memory Care it is common that things are misplaced or shuffled around from time to time, we do our best to keep things in order and look for items that we are aware of that could be misplaced on a regular basis. If there are items are missing, we are asking that you make staff aware, so we know the need to look for said items. Billing: Billing happens monthly, ACH is available – we also work with Long Term Care Insurance and submit insurance requests monthly. Thank you for sharing your concerns.

Stay Away!
My mother-in-law was one of the first residents when the facility opened. It was a great place with caring staff, BUT over time, staff turnover was horrible and the COMPLETE lack of care, concern and communication towards the end of her life was UNSPEAKABLE! She suffered so much in the end with them forgetting to give her her morphine multiple times. Nurse was so rude to both our family and staff. No one ever seemed to know if meds had been given or not. The hospice company Courtyard recommended was the worst (Heartland). Heartland was to drop off a hospital bed they did, in pieces! My husband had to put it together and it wasn't easy. Courtyard refused to prorate the final bill and charged us for a full month but was sure to call the day of the funeral to find out how soon we could move her things out even though we had paid thru the month. THEN they over billed the ins policy and it took several attempts to speak to the billing person to get things straightened out.

Gorgeous place! It's a retirement community and Assisted Living but not Memory Care/lock down. Very nice full size 1 bedroom apartments, can accommodate a queen size bed, full kitchen if the resident chooses to cook for themselves. They are private pay only.

Courtyard at Bellevue, a calm quiet place for care
The community is kept very clean, however that is due to the care givers cleaning the main areas. At present, they do not seem to have consistent housecleaning services available for individual resident rooms. They also had care givers serving meals as they hired more personnel to staff the kitchen. As a result of the lack of kitchen staff, the meals were bulk prepared and then warmed later and served by care giving staff. This is very unsanitary and results in lacking food experience. With that said, recently they have hired some new nutritionist staff, which has resulted in slightly higher quality food, however still poorly served.

A Place for Mom has scored The Courtyard at Bellevue 2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
