the gentleman that set up everything up for our family in the beginning is no longer working with Sunrise of Newton Square. that was a bummer because he was the most friendly, receptive and responsible out of all the people we dealt with there. my dad received adequate care, there was absolutely no neglect of our loved one. the community itself is decent and was a good price for the amount we paid; but don't expect anything above and beyond. the care was adequate, the people were good and decent to work with. the only issue we had was with the billing. we paid for the entire cost upfront, but still received a bill at the end of our loved one's stay. I had to contact them many times to inquire what the bill was for and to explain that we'd already paid for everything. we were finally able to get it resolved, but it still took several attempts of contacting them.

Good facility for assisted living. Make sure that the patient does not need a higher level of care. The people are loving, the place is lovely, my loved one's room is lovely. The dining room service could be better.
Overall we would not recommend this community to families who loves ones need assistance showering, getting to the refrigerator, or really any basic daily needs. We were told if we paid for this certain level of higher care that our loved one would receive that exact level of care. However that was not the case, our expectations and promises were not followed through with. If your loved one does not need much assistance this could be a great spot for them.

March 23, 2022Resident care is always a priority at Newtown Square. For 40 years, our Company has had the privilege to take care of thousands of senior residents who have made Sunrise Senior Living their loving and happy home. It’s disappointing whenever we learn that a family member or resident did not enjoy their experience at Sunrise. One dissatisfied member of our community is one too many. Please contact us at information@sunriseseniorliving.com so that we can learn more. Thank you.
They have done a really good job with my loved one and she has improved since she got there. Other family has also said that there loved one has also improved since she got there. My loved one thinks that everyone there is so nice, the residents as well as the staff. My loved one really likes the meals and is eating things that she hasn't had in a while. They do exercise, movies and bingo activities with the residents. My loved one has never said that she wishes she wasn't there and she is happy.
When our family would come to visit our loved one was not frequently clean, his hair was dirty and never clean shaven. If he was going out somewhere they would just put a hat on him to cover it up. He was always wearing t-shirts even though he had a closet full of clothes. When we took him to the doctor, the doctor said he was extremely malnourished so we believe they were not assisting him when eating, and had some of the worst bed sores the doctor has seen. There was no communication with the community to our family about our loved ones health.

The community was very good to my loved ones. the staff knew who my mom was and the community has a family enviorment. The receptionist is wonderful and they had one on one care for my loved one. I would recommend this community to others and already have
It is important to help educate families so they are confident in their care decisions, this particular business Sunrise Assisted Living of Newtown Square Pennsylvania, fell short on their promises. I feel it is important to share an accurate representation, and the three and a half star rating that I see for this business is highly inaccurate! So many problems were met with intransigence instead of compassion, this is a deal breaker it's unacceptable!
I would recommend the community to others. My mom enjoyed the community during her stay. The staff was caring, kind and provided great service.
The community so far has been fine. I would recommend this community to others.
I would want other families looking into Sunrise to know that the medical staff is terrible, they call it a medical staff but they are not, they are only techs. If someone if seriously injured or sick they don't know what to do or how to care for them. They make up excuses for what they think is correct. It is very boring, there is nothing for the residents to do, they just put them in front a TV and leave them there. They do not have transportation take them to or from anywhere.
The other reviews on this page do not represent my family's experience at Sunrise Newtown Square. Our mother entered there a year ago and has had nothing but excellent care, even when she had to move to the memory care section. The staff have been unfailingly helpful and professional and the leadership has been responsive to our needs. We are beyond grateful for their care of her.
My family moved my father into the facility on [date removed]. We informed Sunrise that the primary reason for the need for its services was that our father had lost bowel and bladder function in the overnight hours. Despite that notice, and the request that he be checked and kept dry, he was not. We found he and his bed sheets soaked on one occasion. By [date removed] he developed a wide spread rash to his abdomen, scrotum, and anus from not being kept dry. The staff also manhandled him on at least one occasion, causing extensive bruising to his right forearm. We found medication on the floor of his room on one occasion and, when that fact was brought to the attention of the staff, they blamed it on my father, who is in late stages of dementia. Given the lack of quality care, we removed our father from this facility on [date removed].

Battered, bruised, cut and suffering from a fungal rash after only 30 days in this facility, We removed our family member before he was killed there. And we can only hope he can recover from the injuries and ailments he suffered there. “Stepford” would be a better name for the facility. Everything is smiles and pleasantries when you are in the caregivers’ presence. What Lies Beneath and what hapoens when you are not is the real story. The reminiscence coordinator is woefully inadequate in the areas of accountability, follow-ip, compassion and forthrightness. The Executive Director talls a good game and is clueless about what goes on on the third floor of her facility. I feel sorry for the Director of Sales. Truly well-meaning, his career would be better served at a facility where the people in charge of “care” actually know what the word means and are able to impart it to their staff I could list at least 15 complaints about the Reminiscence Coordinator and her staff and facility. Suffice it to say they are unable, ill-equipped and worst of all NOT interested in delivering on the care for your loved one that they promise.
My sister, [name removed], did not like the room configurations. She wanted a single unit, like an apartment. Did not want to share the bathroom.
A very nice facility, Sunrise living offers a well planned and well rounded variety of services and activities.
Each of the sunrise communities were good, and could be a possible place.
We are very pleased with my mother's move here! She's attending quite a few things which really shocked me because she was always the type of person who kept to herself. She's going to the many events they hold and has even made friends. I was there for dinner and it was good. They offered several options and a nice three-course meal. The community is definitely very clean. I can't think of anything negative about the community.
Mom is currently doing a short respite stay at this community. The staff seem pleasant and friendly. The sales manager has been helpful. The community is clean and they have a lovely front porch for the residents to enjoy the outdoors. The food is very tasty and they have a snack bar that is open all day. They offer activities and a community room for the residents to watch movies and socialize. I would recommend this community,
I would not advise anyone to put their loved ones with Alzheimers or Dementia in this facility! They put us through hell. They are not equipt to handle the residents and they just want them to sit in a wheelchair and not do anything all day, it was defiantly a horrible experience.
