We chose this facility because the initial impressionism was much more home like than some others. The atmosphere was very good, it felt lived in in a good way. The room sizes are very good, you have a number of options for rooms to choose from. I think they do pretty good with the food, there are a lot of dietary restrictions which cause for less flavor. But the quality of food is good, it is fresh. Maybe they could offer more variety for residents who do not have dietary restrictions. I would want others to know when looking into Somerby of Mount Pleasant that no matter where you put your loved one, always keep an eye on them. If they realize you are watching, they will pay more attention. The staff members here are very good. I would absolutely recommend the facility.Reviewed on A Place For Mom
My family member has been a resident for a few years. Somerby has always been a clean, charming, inviting place to live. There are many activities and opportunities for socializing and engaging residents. Quality cultural programs are offered on site and off. The dining room is an added touch of elegance and offers a variety of delicious meals. Recently I witnessed a renewed emphasis by all staff to deliver compassionate care. I highly recommend Somerby of Mount Pleasant independent living for a family member who needs a safe, comfortable, caring home.Reviewed on SeniorAdvisor.com
The first few months seemed fine but I was in SC and visiting regularity. When I returned unannounced a few months later my sister was not clean, her fingernails were 1/2 inch long. Her room was messy. Her shower was dirty. She is in the memory care unit where the patients are not able to communicate well. They said that she did not want to take a shower and they could not force her. It took me a very short time to get her to shower. I think that the people in memory care should have the skills to get someone to shower. I expressed my discontent to the staff and they made some excuses and seemed to be attentive. I am concerned because I had to return home. I told them I would be back in a few weeks and I will return unannounced and hope things are better.
