We decided on Solstice Senior Living at Lee's Summit because of the proximity to my house as well as the affordability. I liked that they have the aging in place process. They also have select rehabilitation so I can get her some professional rehab or physical therapy and it is right there on site. They have a very nice working active beauty salon in house as well. The one thing that is missing is they have one elevator for this big huge facility, so meal times are very crowded and it takes a while to get to and from. Beautiful facility. The staff needs a lot of work. They have been known not provide services to the residents. The Director of Aging has been known to use foul language to the residents and she does not make sure they get their services (including pills). All of the staff needs traning on how to work with the elderly. They need to have understanding that they can get confused, lonely, and bored. The house keeping staff does not cleanas well or as much as they are supposed to. I wish I could leave a better review but that would be lying. Please only send your loved one here if they are fully independent and just want to down size.

October 6, 2022Thank you for your review of Solstice at Lee's Summit! We appreciate you taking the time to leave feedback. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out. Have a great day!
I'm not really happy with it. I think you should look a little closer before deciding to move here. The food situation needs improvement. They don't serve good quality food. The apartment is just okay. The staff are good though.

Response from Solstice Senior Living at Lee's Summit
September 30, 2022Good morning, James. Thank you for your feedback. Our culinary team works hard to create meals that are nutritious and delicious and provide a great dining experience for our residents. We would like to know more about your experience our community. Please contact our executive director at LeesSummitED@SolsticeSeniorLiving.com or (816) 439-7820 if you would like to discuss further. Thank you.
Our family had an in person tour and it was a nice experience. They played a lot of activities and the bingo was going on over the speakers it was so loud it reminded us of being on a cruise ship. They do serve their meals on scheduled times which we decided would not work for our loved one - they only serve continental breakfast and not a full breakfast. Lunch is only served Saturday's and Sundays, and dinner is served between 4:00pm - 6:00 pm

I wouldn't recommend Solstice Senior Living at Lee's Summit, at least not right now. They are very slow to get things done. My mom had a bad experience. They didn't give her the emergency button for several days after moving in. Because of that she fell, was laying there for hours, and couldn't be reached. We couldn't get in because our fob didn't work, and neither could the fire department. While she was in the hospital from the fall, they apologized and they made sure to get us a working fob. For the first 5 days she was there, not one meal was delivered on time nor in the right way. I was staying with her during that time and I'd put the order in myself, but they still wouldn't get it to her on time. And if I had to leave, I couldn't trust that they would get her food to her. The quality of the food is fine. They seem to have activities posted, but the few times I went to check them out - there were hardly any participants, which isn't their fault. They've been redecorating massively and I know that's put some obstacles in the way for a couple weeks. Their communication is poor, I typically have to reach out to them first. I would just say overall - Solstice needs to make the place more secure, the residents should have their button and the security that the door will remain open during the day and closed at night. At one point, the door could be opened at night with a little force, but they've fixed the fob issue since then.

June 29, 2022Thank you for your feedback. The health and well-being of our residents is our No. 1 priority, and our team is always working to ensure we have the appropriate measures in place. Thank you.
Make sure you check out every other option. Solstice is okay; but if your family needs any kind of help, and isn't totally independent - then Solstice may not be for them. For A Place for Mom: The lady who helped me with A Place for Mom was wonderful, and did a lot of following up with me and was very good. I'm definitely not dissatisfied with A Place for Mom.

There is room for improvement, they are very short on help right now, there are no cleaners and no cooking staff. It takes a couples hours for the meals and then you are served less then satisfactory food.

December 9, 2021Thank you so much for the feedback, Vance. We are pleased to hear you had a great experience while on tour at our community. We truly appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review. Have a wonderful day!
My mother has been a resident of Solstice for over 2 years. When she moved in meals and service were great, but after about 3 months there was a decline in service and meals. I contacted management and corporate both, the meals have not improved. Some meals they serve are corn dogs and hot dogs with spaghetti . Not what I call nutritional meal. Originally there were four servers, now they have two. It sometimes takes 2 hours to complete a meal. There have been times there is no coffee, no milk, no apple juice, no creamer, and no oatmeal when the building is across the street from a Walmart. The facility is very pleasant, with lovely flowers. When we first visited they had printed menus, and offered two full meals for your choice at lunch and dinner, like peppercorn tenderloin. Now you have an entree or a salad as your choice .

November 24, 2021Our residents' health and well- being are our top priorities and our culinary services team is always working to improve our menu options. May 5, 2021Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review, Joy! We're so pleased you've enjoyed the tour of our community.
I would recommend Soltice Senior Living. I like that most everything is done for us. The staff are always willing to listen to you and answer any questions. My only complaint is the food. Sometimes it's excellent, but that's very rare. Generally the vegetables are a mix rather than one good vegetable at a meal. The food frequently isn't hot, even though it's still being served in the dining room. Most of their baked goods are overcooked and dry. The pancakes you have to use a knife to cut them, which you shouldn't have to. But overall I'm happy with my experience here.

We like the fact that they have an agency on site for any assistance our loved one may need, and the staff quickly got to know her name and if/when she needed help. They are very attentive and friendly, and in the summertime the flowers outside are gorgeous, that try to make it very presentable
