Amazing caregivers
My experience was short, only a couple of days in-home , but I was impressed and relieved that Senior Helpers knew the answers to every question I had. I loved that they came to the hospital to make arrangements ahead of time and to meet my brother. The caregivers exceeded my expectations

Amazing caregivers
My experience was short, only a couple of days in-home , but I was impressed and relieved that Senior Helpers knew the answers to every question I had. I loved that they came to the hospital to make arrangements ahead of time and to meet my brother. The caregivers exceeded my expectations and went out of their way to make sure my brother's needs were met. When my brother passed away the caregiver remained at the house and helped us through that difficult situation. I met personally 2 people from Senior Helpers. [name removed], who came to the hospital and set everything up and [name removed] who was the caregiver. I don't know their titles exactly. I would recommend and have recommended Senior Helpers to others.

We used the company when my husband had a lot of medical issues. I needed to have someone explain the process in more detail. I was stressed and did not comprehend the process. it was a recommended by a hospital. They were okay.

our experience
I had a very bad experience with Senior helpers. 3 times they did not send the promised caregivers - yet charged me anyway. Would not recommend them at all. We had one person come for 4 hours for two days. She pretty much sat. Then someone was supposed to be here Monday and Wednesday at 10am and they called Sunday night and said they had no one. I said ok then we are done. They said I had to call the rep - who I left a message with on Monday. She didn't call back til the following Monday - said she was out of town. She said I had to give 2 weeks notice - or they were going to charge me anyway. I said fine - send someone Friday and Saturday. Thursday night again they called and said they had no one. Again - I said - it has been 2 weeks - we are done. I had to scramble and find help. They called Friday and said they had someone for Saturday, Monday and Wednesday. I said no - I had contracted with [removed] - who was wonderful!!! - we are DONE. A month later I saw a charge on my bill. They kept telling me they had to talk to someone else. They didn't listen or communicate. My husband was very ill, has since died so I didn't have the energy to fight them. But they should be ashamed of themselves for treating vulnerable people like that. Our Place for Mom experience was extremely helpful, considerate and patient with helping me find the care we needed for a constantly changing situation. Highly recommend

We utilized Home Care services for my loved one through Senior Helpers of Charleston and I thought that they did a great job. However, my mom refused the assistance after just two visits. They were very pleasant and understanding on the phone and wanted to help out. I would recommend Senior Helpers of Charleston to others.

Review for Senior Helpers of Charleston
It was absolutely terrible and I would NEVER recommend Senior Helpers to anyone. They sent people to my mothers house that were inept for any sort of help and only wanted to talk about their families drug problems. It caused much more undo stress to my mother when they were supposed to help

Senior Helpers has been there for me.
I rarely rate anyone as perfect. That being said, Senior Helpers has done a great job of helping me care for my parents. I communicated to them that it was important to me that we get the same caregivers consistently, because I don't want a lot of different ones coming into my house. I've been grateful that they've been able to accommodate that and schedule the same ones for us. The caregivers they've sent have been good, and my parents seem to like them.

I think they're as good an agency as any agency.
They find it very difficult to find caregivers for me. I have cancer and won't have anybody in my home whose children aren't vaccinated, and they can't hardly find anybody in that category. Most women who are home health aides have children under age 12 in the home, and I can't employ anybody like that. I'm not criticizing the agency. That's the case at all agencies. You also have to be proactive in your communications with them, as with any agency. But I appreciate that they were willing to work with an aide when she was afraid of my dogs. They came in and worked with her to be less fearful, and by the time they left, the aide was much more comfortable.

Our experience with Senior Helpers
The managers were great, if I ever had a question they were prompt at responding back to me. But the caregivers on the other hand, we did not have a good experience with them. Sometimes they were no shows. Some days I had to be there with my mom and I would have to ask them to help out and do things because she liked to sit on the couch on her phone. We had another lady that left my mom unattended for half an hour and was going in and out of the house. With caregivers it is hit or miss, so you just have to find the right one.

about Senior Helpers of Charleston

A Place for Mom has scored Senior Helpers of Charleston 7.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
