Comfortable and sweet home
My mother spent her last few years here and was taken care of exceptionally well. The owner is very attentive to the residents and the staff showed my Mom nothing but love and care - every day. For my mother's needs, this environment was perfect. She was unable to participate in the activities (or outings) that other facilities offer, but she needed a high level of attention and patience. Every nurse here, made sure that my Mom was well fed, comfortable, and felt special. We always felt welcome to visit at any time, and they made every effort to let us visit her (in safe ways), during the worst (shutdown) moments of COVID. My mother passed peacefully, after a long, happy stay here.

They refuse refunds when a resident dies on the 3rd day of the month.
I am writing this review with regard to the company's refusal to refund any part of our monthly service fee ($8500) when my mother died 3 days into the month. My mother died on the 3rd of the month, and I had the room completely cleaned out by the 7th of the month. However, this Board and Care has a policy of not providing ANY refund in the event of death (they will refund for other reasons, though). As a result, 3 days of care services and a week of rent cost us $8500. This has left a very bitter taste in my mouth after an otherwise good experience. The fact that they will charge a full month's fees whether your loved one dies on the first of the month or the last day makes this Board and Care not worth it, especially given what they charge. Also, do not believe them when you sign paperwork and you are told "we can work something out if that happens."

wonderful and caring
I thought the staff at Ray of Hope/Braeburn was wonderful and caring. They really try to get the client what they want as far as food, etc. They really help the clients physically. The staff were just really fantastic. They kept my mother clean and fresh. The care takers were just exceptional young women. They worked very well with the hospice nurses also. The only negative thing I would say is I didn't feel like the floors were cleaned enough. I was there every day and there was shedding skin on the floor and the furniture from my mom. I think the actually cleanliness of the room could have been improved.

A Place for Mom has scored Ray of Hope/ Braeburn 8.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score.
