  • A nice community

Families need to visit often and they need to take charge of their loved ones care. The have had a lot of staff turnover. which is hard for the residents. They don't seem the advise families of what the residents needs are. I don't know that she is out of supplies unless I am there and see it myself. They staff need to be more proactive with care and communication. It is very clean and the meals are great.

  • Don't let the new building fool you

My dad received almost no care or attention at this facility. There was excuse after excuse why he was neglected, not bathed, had bruises, did not received medication, etc. and his room was rarely cleaned, but we were lied to about it. We had too many bad experiences to count. We would make surprise visits at night and there was never a member of management on sight and there would be loud music playing that would keep the residents awake. At times there would be residents roaming around going in and out of other residents rooms and the employees were in the medication room talking or outside smoking. We gave up on complaining, it was obvious that the managers wanted us to go away, they want residents that do not have families that really know what is going on or that do not care. There is a constant turnover of caregivers and some of them are extremely unqualified and were rude to my dad, family and friends. The director will blame everyone but her laziness and bad management, my mom met with her time after time and she would make promises, but there were never any improvements. My dad was there for six months and I never saw the director out in the facility. There are a few good employees and we always felt sympathy for them because the few that were good did all of the work while most sat and talked or were on their phones. At times there would be three employees sitting and doing nothing and my sister and I would be helping the residents, again there was never any management out where the residents were. The staff nurse was rude and difficult to communicate with, it is my understanding that she is no longer there.I will say the food was usually good and there were good and kind people on the activity staff. We are angry at the management of this facility because of the stress they caused for my dad and our entire family and they have done the same to many others. (there were several families going through the same problems) I don't think they care, they just have residents coming in and out collecting the money and moving on. I understand businesses need to make a profit, but families should be able to have confidence that their love ones are being taken care of and not be lied to and taken advantage of and get the services that they pay for. We moved my dad several months ago and have been so much happier at the new facility, they have taken wonderful care of him. We can all finally sleep at night knowing my dad is getting the care he needs. I will be writing a review of the new facility, we can’t say enough nice things about it and the director, she is active in the community and makes sure everything is running smoothly and the residents are getting the proper care. The Alzheimer's experience is such a stressful and painful walk for everyone involved, we are so appreciative that there really are good people out there that care, Oakhill Terrace does not.

  • Thought it was way too expensive but unless Mom is evaluated at the top level and stays there a long time, it will actually be the cheapest. It was bright, clean and very attractive. There were lots of residents out in the common rooms and halls and all of them seemed happy and engaged. I was impressed. OHT is at the top of our list.
