Our Tour Experience

Our virtual tour was good. The people were very friendly and nice. And I thought the place looked clean. We chose another place because it was closer to where I live. I would have liked to have seen a little more than we saw on the virtual tour.

I would not recommend

We did not have a good experience with Brookdale Tyler South. When I was talking to the director, he was not willing to work with me after we moved him out. If I had to do it all over again we would have never gone here.

Very Positive and Wouldn't Hesitate to Recommend for Memory Care

The rates just went up, and this isn't a tier rate. The bedding is changed each day for my loved one. I appreciate the care and not having the tier based on medical needs. The money has gone into paying for really good staff. There is a low turn over of staff. The staff is kind to my loved one, no matter what.

Give This Place a Try Because They Are Great For Us

My loved one doesn't complain about the food. This is a good place to be. The things I like about it is my loved one has a large private room with a view. It feels like home.

Brookdale South Great Choice for Loved One's Care

Residents to staff ratio at times could be improved, but most times we felt confident. I would recommend you checking this community out for your loved. The spaciousness of the community was wonderful for the residents to be able to walk around. The courtyard in the middle of the building was wonderful, for the residents to go out and get fresh air. The aquarium was a wonderful addition. The nurses station was always stationed for assistance. [name removed], was always great; lots of phone calls with any questions or concerns about my loved one. [name removed] is great to work with as well.

Brookdale Tyler South is doing a good job at keeping the residents safe and engaged

My loved one has been there since March, and I haven't been able to see her until today. The community is now allowing visits for a maximum of 2 people to visit our loved ones. This is a once a week activity and a maximum of 1 hour for the visit. My loved one's clothes weren't labeled, and some of the clothes have gone missing. There have been some missing clothes, and my loved one had received another residents clothes. This has been my only frustration. The staff have told me that my loved one has been having a "garage sale" of her items. Brookdale Tyler South is having lots of activities for the residents. There have been a few times that the residents have been confined to their rooms, if there is an individual one that has visited the community comes down with COVID. They have been doing COVID testing when necessary. The community has had specialty doctors come in to assist my loved one. There is a nurse practitioner that comes into see my loved one. They do have the option to have virtual visits.

Due to my illness I cannot get over there often but I don't worry because I know everything will be taken care of. The staff was able to encourage him to do things that other places or me could never do. Great place.

Doesn't have levels of care so everyone pays the same cost but it's so high it would wind up being more expensive than Oak Hills except at the very highest level. The rooms are very small and the semi-privates offer no privacy. Most importantly, there were very few residents in the halls and they all seemed unhappy, isolated and alone. BDT is at the bottom of our list.

Care for Dad

We have like the care in this community. The staff is attentive and caring. We would of like to have known if there would be additional charges on the changes of additional care if needed. The menu is very good and I liked knowing that my father is in a clean environment. They offer activities for the residents who were able to participate. Families might want to know what this community offers.

Care and Comfort

This community is outstanding. The staff is caring and attentive. The menu is appealing and he is happy with the meals that are offered. They do offer a lot of activities that are offered for him to join the other residents. We do recommend this community for the great care and value for other families.

Mom is Safe

Everything is going pretty well for my mother since her move to this community. They have been taking very good care of her and her needs. I really like how helpful and attentive they are to the residents. They have provided me a peace of mind knowing she is safe and well.

Every Service Costs!!

The tour guide showed me all the rooms and places to the community. It was a very nice place with very large adequate rooms. I didn't like that for every service they charged. If my mother wouldn't want to eat at the dinning room they would charge to take her meal to her room. There were so many deceptive fees in the paperwork that i wasn't comfortable with. It's a beautiful community but every service you receive is an add on and you have to pay.

We had a good tour!

The people at this community were nice and the food smelled good. I did not like that they have people from the outside come in for meetings as it makes it crowded. This community was to far away from us.

Very Bad Experience

My wife was not cared for well at this community. They promised a lot things to me and they did not follow through with them. The staff was not able to care for her. They need more training in dealing with patients with Alzheimer. I was not pleased with their services and I would not recommend this community to anyone.

front doors need painting

I really like Brookdale Tyler South. The staff and the activities directors here are really good. The only improvement I would say that needs to be made is that the front doors need painting. I really think that would make a better first impression. Overall I really like this facility.

laundry service

The only issue we have had at Brookdale Tyler South is with the laundry service. Her clothes have ended up in someone else's room several times. Overall it has been a really good experience here just that one issue.

Friendly, reliable staff

We're very pleased with how things have gone at Brookdale Tyler. The staff here are very friendly and caring, and they've been very accommodating to my loved one's needs. The medication service has been very reliable as well, which is something we've had problems with at other places. Overall we're just very happy with the service!

not good

My mother in law was only there for about three weeks until we checked her out and brought her home. They could not seem to handle her, and they wanted to strongly medicate her all the time. They suggested that we put her in a psychiatric ward to have her evaluated for stronger meds. We did so, and after a couple of weeks the doctor at the ward said she never needed to be there. After that we took her back to Brookdale Tyler South, and they had multiple employees leaving at the time, so they have some issues there as well. Our overall experience was not good.

Very caring!

Their marketing director is wonderful. PJ is very, very sweet. I think they are just great. They are very caring and homey. They care about each and every person. When I call they always know where my mother is and what she's doing. It's very safe. It's a small community so they are able to be attentive to all the residents. I would recommend the Brookdale Tyler South.
