The ambience of the facility itself is beautiful and largely what attracted us to it. However, it became quickly evident they are severely understaffed and the staff they have are severely undertrained; especially in the memory care wing. I believe the nursing staff do the best they can understanding the needs of the client, but there are so few aids/workers scattered across the units that it was often impossible to find someone and residents wander around in distress with no support. Redirection and de-escalation skills are nonexistent in many of the staff. My dad often had bruises that were unexplainable by staff, likely due to unsupervised falls. His belongings and entire closet of clothes often went missing and took several days to track down in other resident rooms. My dad stated that the food was fair and the menu seemed to have decent variety. Communication with family was hit or miss. I'd alert the nursing manager of appointments, but arrive to find my dad undressed and not ready. On one occasion, he was ready but wearing shorts and slippers (in December). The main areas of the facility were clean, but my dad's room smelled strongly of urine, his sheets often soiled and his bathroom floor STICKY for days on end, despite a contract agreement stating regular cleanings. I would not recommend this facility. I would have moved him out a lot sooner if there were more readily available memory care placement at another facility. His physical and mental health declined over the course of the year he was there and I truly believe it was exacerbated by the quality of care (or lack-thereof).

Review for New Perspective Senior Living West Fargo
I would say it's been ok but awful for the amount of money we are spending to have her there. I would never recommend the memory care unit there. If I had a family member that needs assisted living I would recommend that. Their facility is beautiful and all the residents that I have meet are friendly. Both the people that work the front desk are very friendly.

New Perspective West Fargo
Friendlier staff in the memory care unit. Often they don't acknowledge a person (not talking about the front reception area-which are very good). Also, when you go to visit someone in memory care and maybe have a question or concern you have a hard time finding a staff member in that area. This is concerning as I worry about a fall or the possibility of someone having a medical emergency and there isn't anyone in close proximity.
Not sure how often a room gets deep cleaned. For the most part things look clean but I noticed wrappers and such underneath my mom's bed which makes me wonder if anyone ever cleans under the beds. Also, I noticed my mom's lamp shade (which is glass) was broken and a large piece of it was on the floor by the nightstand. It made me worried that she could have cut herself on it.
Those are just a few things that I think need to be improved. It is a very nice facility and my mom seems to like it there.

Beware...Horrible Memory Care Services
We put our dad here as it is very beautiful and [name removed] sold us on her presentation. Once dad moved in to Betty's Harbor we realized we were lied to about the outstanding care he was to receive. For the most part the staff didn’t care and were very dismissive to our concerns. The standard line, "It's not my job," was used often. Staff would disappear for long periods of time and hide in the un-opened section of Betty's Harbor. Dad was not getting showered on his shower days, meds were inconsistent, he was not changed when needed, the residents were left to sit for hours in front of a tv. All the activities we were promised never happened. We took our complaints to the top and were dismissed with excuses. We had to hire a nurse to go in during the days to be with dad and put cameras in his room. This place is horrible and I am glad we got dad out.

"A" for looks, "C" for quality
The facility and aesthetics are beautiful but consistency, communication and overall quality of care have been concerning. I would voice concerns over staffing shortages and quality of care. If the loved one needing placement was requiring a more intense care plan on the memory care unit, I'm not sure I would recommend. Staffing is typically limited and the staff present appear to be more dismissive as opposed to taking the time to redirect memory care residents with compassion.

Thoughtful, Caring People, But They are Understaffed. My Loved One Likes it Here
The care is good. It seems like a nice community. I don't always get the information back that I request. The billing statement is very confusing. There are credits that are on my loved one's statement, and I'm not sure where this has come from. I have called multiply times to follow up on asking for more details on the billing. I have yet to hear back on this.
My loved one says the food has gotten better, and the community has a new cook. They have a lot of activities available for the residents to participate in. They even have physical therapy on site for the residents to use.

Beautiful Venue
I have recommended it already. It is a locked memory unit. This facility is 3 floors and the memory care is located on the first floor. The staff communicate on email with any questions and concerns for my loved one. Billing is setup with automatic payments.

Wonderful Place
The staff seem to forget about about my loved ones hearing aids at night time and putting them back in in the mornings some days. Activities in the memory care area are kind of hit and miss. Assisted living is very good. I would recommend it to anyone looking for assisted living. The facility has fireplaces with screens for safety during the winter, it is a very cozy place. The nurse does a great job of checking in on my loved one.

It was an eye opener to the big adjustments
New Perspective is a really beautiful nice place with a huge library. It is a nice nice facility and the food is very good. However it was not exactly what we were expecting. We knew it was going to be a temporary stay so our loved one got a studio apartment. The response time was slow, and our calls would go unanswered. We aren't sure if they were short on help at the time or what.

A super caring facility
We chose New Perspective Senior Living because of the activities provided and they had a memory care unit which is what we needed for our loved one. The room sizes are great, very spacious. I have eaten here and have no complaints about the food. It is in a location that has easy access and the nurses are great. If there is any issue, they address it right away. I would recommend.

This community is kept very clean, and the staff members are very friendly, loving and very welcoming. I immediately felt love and support when i first moved here, i am very happy. People cannot believe how loving this community is. I am very close with all of the staff members they are like family to me. The value is very good and the activities are okay because of COVID. the activities director really tries her best to come up with creative ideas to keep everyone involved.

My family member resides in the West Fargo Betty's Harbor memory care and has been there for approximately one year. We have had a very positive experience with NPSL and the staff! They are very welcoming and helpful when we visit as well as attentive to our family member! They incorporate the memory care residents with the assisted living & independent living activities as much as possible and have the belief they are all one family! Music, crafts, cooking/baking, decorating have all been enjoyed by our family member! We would love to see the big dance floor used and have scheduled dances for the residents, like many residents used to do. We are hoping that will be happening soon! Our family member STILL loves to dance! Thank you NPSL/West Fargo and your entire staff!
