Overall, we had a very pleasant experience with Legacy Pointe. The staff had taken care of my Dad as if he was their own. The facility was exceptionally clean and neat. There are plenty of common areas for residents to visit and activities available as well. The individual units were sized just right with enough space for furnishings. And the location is easy to reach - easy drive from I-80 and Highway 6.... Read more

I have personally been in long term care for many years, I a must say that the Administration is very responsive, caring and are on site more than most. Do not hesitate. Many times, tenants wonder why they would not have moved in sooner.

Overall we did think the value was pretty good while our loved one was a resident there, the meals were good but they were smaller portioned which was to be expected and we could see how hard the staff tried to get the residents involved in the activities. However when it came to the quality of care, it seemed like they just did not have all the supplies that were needed to care for the residents. Some of the staff members were amazing and others not so much. They were experiencing staffing issues just like everyone else.

Legacy has far exceeded my expectations for a Senior Living Environment. The views are spectacular and so are the people. Every meal has so many options to chose from and is delicious. Each day activity directors plan out engaging crafts, music, and outings. Definitely a place to keep on the radar for yourself or loved ones.

I have heard some complaints about the food, but I think it is on the upward mend. We did have a lot of billing issues and it took us a long time to get that all corrected and sorted out. [name removed], the directors assistant, who we spoke with was very helpful and friendly and tried to help us the best she could. The bills they give are hard to read and very confusing.

We are very pleased with our decision to move to Legacy Pointe. The facility is clean, most of the staff are friendly. They answer our call pendants promptly. The quality of food is good and the menu offers a variety of choices. The facility we were in previously was much more costly and less space. We now have two bathrooms which is a real plus. Our apt was just remodeled and beautifully done.

The cleanliness of the community is spotless. The meals are not fancy but good variety and plentiful, served hot with staff checking around frequently in dining room to refill drinks etc. Also willing to box a meal to return to room is asked. For activities there are at least 5-6 options daily with something for everyone --- music, taste tests, exercise, games, church, scenic drives to name a few. Assisted living is expensive, to be sure but we looked at several places and they are in the middle of the range. I feel like the cost is fair given the size of the apartment and the services my parents are receiving. I have been very impressed with the staff. It's very hard to "let go". I live 7 hours away. But anytime I have concerns or questions, it is easy to connect with the appropriate staff person and get a quick response. My parents always comment on the kindness of the aides. "They check on us all the time." Like many, they were resistant to making this change and are now happy they did. [name removed] (exec director) treats them like family. We feel very lucky that an apartment was available...it was a short notice decision. I really feel like they have bent over backwards to make it a good transition.

Be very careful and ask for documentation when entering this community. Make sure that you identify all of the belongings of your loved one and expect things to either be misplaced or stolen especially if you are in memory care. With memory care they just walk in and out of each others rooms. Be ready to have low expectations. it is a nice room but the quality of care here is poor. There is a staff education requirement to take a certain course provided by management but this community uses a staffing agency for a lot of the workers and it seems like the training is not required this route so be careful when the specialized training is mentioned.

My loved one has been there for three months and we have been pleased with the care they are receiving. We would highly recommend the community to others for their loved ones. The food is excellent, they have a lot of fish options, and good vegetables that aren't overdone. The menu is diverse. Some of the activities include card games, bingo, live entertainment, and more for the residents to choose from. The activities director is very engaged with the residents and trying to get them involved in the activities offered.

There is no salon on site, so if your loved one needs their nails to be cut a family member has to come and do it. There have been several times where we call for hours on end and no one picks up the phone. They also cannot fill prescriptions.

Legacy was the cleanest and brightest community we visited by far. The apartments are the largest in size and seem so spacious. The community looks brand new and the staff seems to know the residents and offer plenty to do each day for those interested. We didn't stay for lunch but dining room was beautiful and everything being served looked appealing. The cost was perfect for us and they allow pets. Definitely worth a tour and worth it to pay a little more for all of the amenities and staff.

He's liking it. The only thing he doesn't like is it's not my cooking. They do all his cleaning. They do his laundry, and change his bed and clean his room. He likes it out there. I would definitly say give it a try if you are looking for assisted living. He also has his privacy so they aren't too invasive. They do have a bus that can help take people to doctor.

Modern ,clean, great list of things to do. We have enough for a year or so private pay and they don't switch over to Medicaid.

Legacy charges $1,000.00 more per month than Walden Place in Iowa City. The facility itself seemed dark and depressing to me. Walden place was very well lit with much more natural light coming in and much more cheery colors and nicer furnishing throughout. Also, no unit in the Legacy assisted living had any outside access. Walden place apartments each have their own balcony or patio which is very nice to have for smokers. Legacy charges $1,000.00 deposit for having a small pet. Walden place charges nothing. Walden Place has 4 resident managers available 24/7. One manager serves coffee to the residents at lunch and gets to know them personally as well as finding out first hand and fast if there is any maintenance needed or other things that may need his attention. He also reads the days activities and events to the residents at lunch. The facility offered us free lunch and provided a welcome committee resident to dine with us and answer questions from a first hand experience point of view. I could say a lot more positive things.

Very nice facilities. Memory care is seperate building with 2 mirrored units - 1 less care and 1 for more care needed, private studio apt - perfect size. Comfortable common areas, dining room, small with a homey feel. I went to the IL dining room (more room and got to meet chef) and had lunch. Food was very good. Price in our range and Mom's doctor is right next door. Nurse has been in geriatrics for over 10 years. Don't know if there was anything I didn't like.
