The good and the bad
There were wonderful experiences, but sometimes my loved one did not receive meds. There was an incident, where my loved one was not fed. The food, and activities were great. They need to know what the agreed upon deliverables are.

Look a little deeper.
We're not particularly happy with them. Our biggest concern is the health aides, which they call care partners. We pay extra for additional services. Their base price is basically independent living, and you pay extra for assistance. The care partners aren't showing up half the time to help our loved one with showering, dressing, or going to bed. Which is hard on my loved one, who then doesn't know what to do. I've discussed it with the head nurse and the director, and it's still happening. Another concern is that the care partners don't have any bedside manner or communication skills. Residents like my loved one with mild dementia need a greeting and/or introduction when a person enters into their home. Often they don't say anything when they come in. Sometimes they ask her if she needs anything instead of just helping her with the pre-determined task. If she says she's not sure, they just leave. And these aren't isolated incidents. As far as recreation goes, the recreation director is very nice, and I think he tries to do a good job. But activities have been very inconsistent. When they're not happening as posted, there is no communication. When activities are on the schedule, it's not indicated where in the facility they will be taking place. When she asks the concierge, they don't know. And often activities are cancelled because nobody is showing up. So she has pretty much given up on trying to attend. Meals are one of the highlights. The dining room staff is a little friendlier. They know everyone by name, and ask the residents what they would like to eat at each meal. They could speak up a little though, since many of the residents are hard of hearing. But everything I've tried has been good. They serve dessert every day, and they serve the crispiest bacon I've ever had. The menu has good variety. The concierge staff is also very friendly, as well as housekeeping. It's a beautiful facility - bright and shiny and new. The tour was wonderful, but it doesn't live up to the hype. It's the care partners that we have a problem with - their lack of bedside manner and inconsistency of care, which we are paying a premium for. I also wish they had online availability for families to see the activities schedule so I could prompt her to participate. Additionally, there is no way to check meal balances, which don't roll over, unless you contact the chef. So it's hard to plan for the month. Basically there is no online visibility for families, and there's no excuse for that in this tech day and age. For the residents without family there to advocate for them, I would be concerned.

This was one of the most traumatic experiences I've had as of late. The director disparaged us because my parent is on Medicaid (then don't accept Medicaid if you think we're beneath you) and we were misled and did not end up moving in. I have a credible witness who can attest to this. The executive team was no better. They treated us like they were doing us a favor and seemed to forget who their bread and butter is. It's all about the money imho. They even had an attorney from out of state try and silence me but that's what actually spurred me to write this review. This experience has really left me concerned about putting my parent in any community. Look past the beautiful facade.

I would say to modify your expectations. It is bright and shiny and looks really great from the outside but really needs to be considered is the level of care. There are a lot of staffing shortages and communication is not always the best especially when you first move in they do not tell you a lot of the details that you need to know. Getting services started was a challenge and unless you hire a private care partner then your loved one is not going to get a lot of personal care. If your loved one is not self sufficient then you want to hire a care person to care for them due to the small number of staff in the community. I feel that my parents are in a safe environment and I am not completely dissatisfied and with all of the shortages alll other places are comparable at the time just go in with your eyes open.

Terrible
I was in the process of moving my mother into memory care. This facility withdrew money from my account that was not justified. It took over 3 months for them to provide a statement justifying the amount of the withdrawal, and there was over $5800 in charges that were not authorized. The executive director [name removed] promised to refund a partial amount in December, but it never happened. The sales director [name removed] promised me a complete refund in August. It has been over 7 months and I have not been refunded any of the money. The staff at HarborChase has stopped responding to emails and phone calls. They are only prompt with responses when they are trying to sell you something. I have heard multiple stories form other residents who were also overcharged and not reimbursed.

They CARE
My parents moved in back in the summer last year and it has been the best experience for them. He fought me pretty hard on moving out of their house. It was a PROCESS, but the team at HarborChase made it so much less stressful. My mom is in their memory side and finding a good memory care was our first priority. Harborchase was just so bright and the activity girls were so good at making all the residents happy and involved. The bathrooms are so big and spacious. Once my dad was able to see how good my mom was doing he was able to agree to moving in. I have never seen him so happy with his "happy hour group". Every night he goes for happy hour and plays dominos during the day. He has even gotten involved in their exercise groups. If you are wondering which place is right for your family, give HarborChase a try. Nothing is perfect and not every day is going to be best but they try and never stop trying. All I can ask for is that my parents are happy, and that Harborchase CARES

Best place for my mom
I wanted to wait a month or so to make my review so my mom could have the full experience here. My siblings and I toured many communities in Palm Beach county and we kept landing on HarborChase whenever comparing. We made sure to try lunch at our top choices and the team here blew is out of the water in comparison. Since moving in over a month ago, my mom has done so much better. She did require alot more care when she first got there (came from Rehab) and the aids were just so kind to her. Although my mom can be "a little" needy, the aids are so patient. Whenever I call the front desk, they greet me like I am family now, I think I call too much. Wanted to recognize [name removed] too, always keeping her included in the games and art classes

I would recommend HarborChase of Wellington Crossing
We chose HarborChase of Wellington Crossing because they had the highest standard license, it is very well run, and it is a more established community with a lot of residents. The only reason I gave a 4 was just because sometimes when she pushes her button it is difficult to get staff to come right away to help her. The staff are very friendly and take her to the activities she wants to go to. The dining room is superb, she is always sitting with other people. The environment is fabulous, it is bright and cheery and feels like you are walking into a hotel. I think she is very happy here and I would recommend them to others who are looking.

Stay away!
Not enough room here to detail the incompetence of this place. Don't let looks fool you. While on vacation there, I witnessed the incompetence first hand. In short: ridiculous wait times for meals; aides response time from 30 minutes (illegal) to never; mom left on toilet to fend for herself while aide "went out for a minute", mom fell twice trying to go to the bathroom by herself because no one came to help her; although a few of the aides were very nice, most were unfriendly/not engaging/sometimes rough, skipped showers, unchanged bed sheets, clothes thrown here and there (soiled underwear in the shower), laundry was not put away (despite us putting signs all over the place) and sometimes came back damp, picked up for breakfast one day at 9:45am and that was after we searched the halls for help...on and on. Despite meeting with the Director, nothing was accomplished. Our sweet mom would call up crying because no one would come for her. We were out of there in three months. Stay away!

HarborChase of Wellington Crossing - ECC review
It is a little pricey but the biggest thing that stood out to us was the cleanliness and the memory care staff. HarborChase is not like other communities we looked at, instead of gathering the memory care residents and sitting them in front of the nursing station to sing songs all day, they actually integrate the residents with the assisted living. They take them around the community to use different equipment and even take them on trips. The memory care is just outstanding.

A terrible place for mom
After two and a half months I transferred my mother to a new facility. The service was horrendous. Some aides were down right incompetent and cruel. After speaking with management quite a few times nothing was resolved. Complaints fall on deaf ears! this whole experience was very traumatic for my mother and a huge undertaking and inconvenience to us. In lieu of this I am requesting a refund of the community fee.

The front office sales experience was the most pleasant.
Also the food is unparalleled compared to the other eight properties we visited. That was the determining factor for my dad. The chef is from the Ritz Carlton, and there's a regular sit-down, order from a menu experience at each dinner. It's phenomenal. Most of the the food we tried at the other places was cafeteria quality. For my mom, it was all about the activities that were available. And they deliver on both fronts.
