Food is mainly deep fried and lots of carbs. Not enough fresh fruits and vegetables. Menu is not diabetic friendly. Menu offerings should be expanded. Evening night staff is unsatisfactory. Residents cannot communicate with many of them. Often they are chatting with each other, on their cell phones and ignoring residents. Residents who need wheelchair assistance off and sit in the dining room for an hour or more waiting for an aid to come and get them back into their rooms. Residents push their call buttons over and over and over. Again waiting for help. On the weekends, there is no one at the front desk. So people and visitors coming to visit. Others are stuck. Trying to figure out what to do and where to go. Often times when friends and family try to call the front desk. No one answers the phone for hours on end during the week. Communication overall is awful at Edencrest in Johnston Aides need to have their cell phones taken away during working hours. Aides need serious training on building relationships with residents through kindness, respectful communication and compassion. Perhaps they need incentives to meet and exceed goals of engagement and resident care and support. Currently, residents are not getting the assistance that they are paying for each month. I think the problem lies at the top management at Jaybird Senior Living facilities. I think the facility directors want to make changes but hands are tied by upper management and proper budget isn't provided to make improvements. The activity director is really abrasive and not very creative in coming up with activities that really engage people. Her activity room is a disorganized disaster zone. It always looks like a tornado went through it. She should be replaced with someone who really loves the job. [name removed] just doesn't have what it takes to put smiles on residents faces. Activities and her attitude is so ho-hum. She can sometimes be disrespectful. To make sure long days include ever changing activities that attracts and encourages people to try new things.

This was a gorgeous community, just too expensive for us.
Edencrest at Green Meadows is a very nice, very clean place. The staff knows the residents on a first-name basis. The food is good when it is served in the dining room. The room sizes are good. They have some outdoor space for the residents to use.

March 1, 2021Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us! We take pride in providing Red Carpet service and are thrilled to hear your positive feedback. We look forward to serving you again in the future!
Good location, can see dad living there, has a large number of residents to find things in common with like sports, their careers, books, card games, etc, there were more lunch options than at other places including a soup and salad bar that had a lot of his favorite items on it. Relaxing areas to socialize including a back deck where the deers and birds are fed, looked just like his backyard at home. Rooms were good size with assistants there to help him at certain times as needed. Seriously looking at this one as being the right fit for our dad.

We chose this facility for our loved one with advanced dementia because it has a setting away from traffic, parking lots and the city, all of which caused our love one to be agitated and looking for a car/way out. We are very pleased with the security of the unit which has freed us from the worry that our loved one could wander away. The administrative staff is extremely friendly and helpful. This unit is organized "old style", meaning the apartments are spread down a long hall, with the dining/recreation areas spread down the hallway rather than the newer central activity area with the apartments surrounding them. This does isolate the tenants more--there is no direct visualization of the rooms/tenants from any one vantage point. It is challenging to operate a unit for individuals with varying degrees of dementia. We have had to address issues with our loved one not eating--often they will inform about mealtime, he will say he does not want to go, and thus he does not eat. We have requested he receive a tray in his room when this happens, but we continue to find instances where this part of his "care plan" is not adhered to. It seems to depend a great deal on which staff members are working. Some are amazing and unfortunately some are not so. We also have issues where they do not seem able to get him to take his medicine on a regular basis. Again, it seems to depend on the day and his level of engagement/trust with the respective attendant. The food we have seen served is OK, it is certainly not what we would eat at home--corn dogs, fish sticks, tater tots, a variety of sandwiches. When we attend meals with our loved one he states the food is OK. We have been there when they serve snacks and cookies in the afternoon, and the tenants seem to enjoy that a lot. It is also a challenge to keep the apartment clean and clothing organized. Since it is assisted living, deep cleaning is not provided along with the room rate. This has left us to have to come over periodically and provide that service. Since our loved one struggles with incontinence, it is often hard to keep the apartment as clean as we would like if we don't visit daily. The facility does the laundry, but often does not put it away. We also find other people's clothing in our loved one's room. They told us we did not have to label his things, but we are glad we did, as it seems to keep his clothing where it belongs. We are also responsible for maintaining supplies for the bathroom and other necessities, which can be challenging since we don't live in town. While it is great that the facility allows pets, the barking has annoyed our loved one. Prior to being in a facility our loved one had about 6 hours a day of private care in the home. Since the staff was focused just on him, he was happier and had more social interaction. They ate meals with him. Currently he frequently comments he is bored and seems sad. Since he does not want to play games or attend exercise classes he doesn't socialize. He has never been a "group" type person, just had a few very close relationships. This is the second facility we have had our loved one in--it is amazingly better than the first. We will keep working with the facility and staff to ensure our loved one is adequately cared for and happy.

March 1, 2021Thank you for your feedback. It is important to us to create an individualized care and activities plan for each of our residents. We would love the opportunity to keep open communication and make sure that we are meeting all of your loved ones' needs!
Located in an area that offers views of nature, deer and squirrels. The rooms offer adequate space, private bath with walk in shower. Secure facility. The staff seemed to be actively engaging the residents and the atmosphere was very calm and quiet. We hope to move our loved one here.

The caregivers here do a great job and always help us when we have questions, activities are great. But the management part could be a lot better every time I call the manager is never available to take my call or when I come in to talk he has left the building for the day, seems like I just get the run around and the assistant manager seems very nice but I over heard her talking to a couple other staff members and she is pretty rude to talk about some of the other residents! But the facility is beautiful and the food is great and they have a great view!!

November 13, 2018Thank you so much for sharing your review of Edencrest! We're happy to hear you enjoyed the dining experience and the scenery at our community. We will take your review under advisement in regards to the lighting in our apartments to improve this for future residents.
I toured this facility because their other location wasn’t open yet. I really like this community and the rooms and green space are a lot larger than their other location. While on our tour, the marketing director was very nice and seemed to be knowledgeable. The only downfall to this facility is if I was to move my mom in, it would have been really difficult to move all of her furniture down the hall and into an elevator. I would recommend this community to other families.

While my loved one has been at Edencreat, there have been several issues. The food is good, and the place is generally clean. However, the staff and management do not keep me updated on my loved one's care. They will tell me "he is resting comfortably," when things really aren't going so well. There is a real lack of communication, and they go behind my back to give items to my loved one that they shouldn't have. My loved one needs exercise, therapy, and stimulation to keep him engaged. They are not doing any type of exercises or therapy. My loved one lays in bed all day and watches tv. They also don't clean his room once a month like they're supposed to, and I'm the one who does the laundry. I wish I could say our experience was better, but that has not been the case.

We toured a few different communities and they were all very nice and offered what we were looking for but this one had the location going for it the location is much closer to us than any of the others. The staff is very friendly and caring. Dad seems to be happy here he is slowly starting to socialize more and hopefully it will increase as time goes by. He hasn't complained about the food so I am assuming he is liking it. We are very pleased with this community and the care he is getting.

This community was our second choice. The staff we met were friendly and answered our questions. The community seemed clean and they seem to offer some nice amenities and activities. This community did not have the skilled nursing care that my loved one required so we chose a community that offered this.

August 2, 2017Thank you so much for touring and leaving this wonderful review. We appreciate knowing that we were your second choice, only due to the fact that we do not offer skilled nursing care. We wish you the best of luck in finding an option that best meets your loved one's health care needs.
We toured this community and liked the staff that was caring and were able to answer the questions that we had on the care that is available. They do offer activities that are available. We would suggest that other families tour this community for the care and value of a loved one's needs.

I took a few tours with one being of Edencrest at Green Meadows. This place was nice, it was clean and everyone from the most part was friendly. Some of the places, though, would not call me back after they evaluated my mother which was very discouraging.

My father at this moment is in rehab, but once he gets better he will be returning back to this community. This is a good, safe community, and I'am comfortable with him returning. They are taking good care of him, and his needs. They have a really good staff at this community. They are helpful, and kind. They do a good job keeping the facility, and his room well-kept. They really care about their residents at this facility. This is a community I would recommend, it is a nice place.

I thought Edencrest was a very nice facility. The rooms were very nice and it was a positive experience. We did not choose Edencrest because it was a little more expensive than other options in the area.

I toured this community. The staff were nice, but the community seems a little disorganized. They did not have the layout that we were looking for due to the needs we had. We did not lock down community. Families should tour this community for the care of a loved one.

My mother-in-law is a resident here and she is having a difficult time adjusting. I have noticed they could use more staff in the afternoons and evenings. The staff is pretty helpful and friendly. She isn't involved in activities but they encourage her. The meals are okay.
