  • A great caring place

My friend was a resident for the past year until she passed away. This facility was such an answer to prayer. The food was all made from scratch, and met her special needs which kept changing. The care was very personalized, and she got great care from caring people. They not only cared for her needs, but they loved her. Because the facility is in a house, she had her needs met more quickly than in some larger facilities, as she could communicate her needs as they arose. My friend really enjoyed the out-of-doors, which happened when she was physically able. The care-givers got the medical involved in a timely manner whenever she had a medical/medicine problem. The visiting doctor said this facility was one of the best that he visits on a regular basis! I visited her several times a week in the past year, and the only thing I would change would be to not have the TV on in the living room as much as it was used. I would highly recommend this facility as the staff really cares about caring for those in need.

  • Mixed experience

We've had somewhat of a mixed experience with Candet Assisted Living. In terms of the actual care provided I think they do an excellent job. The owner and the live-in caregiver do a great job taking care of the residents, and I appreciate that they try and avoid necessary medications. I also really like the food that they serve, it is high quality and appropriate for a senior diet. However, one of my biggest issues is that while the live-in caregiver is a nice person and very caring she does not speak enough English to be able to communicate with the residents well, which makes things difficult when the owner is out of the house. Some of the other residents also cause issues, there is a man who frequently shouts, and another with severe dementia issues, which makes my loved one uncomfortable at times.

  • Will Be Moving To Better Building Soon

To start off when we were here she had a sewer leak in the basement that was at no fault to her. Because of the sewer leak she had a lot of furnisher stacked in the living room which really made it crowded. The living room has a TV but only has one chair to sit in so when a resident has company it is really hard to find a place to sit. You could visit in the resident’s room but they are too small to fit a large family visit. We were told it was going to have a more family type feeling to it, but the dining room is only big enough to fit 3-4 people, so not all the residents can eat at the table at the same time. Some of the residents just go to their room and eat there because of the area size limitations. To be fair she is looking at moving into a much bigger and nicer home and would have enough space to fix these issues, it just has not happened yet. The address of this location is on Beatrice in Livonia, MI. The new location will be a lot better. He also did manage to get out of this location and was trying to get away. The owner just followed him and did not trying to force him back she just kept talking to him and following him. The reason he was able to get out was that the door had been dry rotted and was broke down easily. Again these issues will be fixed when she moves to the new house.
