The staff members at Brookdale have been really good friendly and helpful. Due to the covid restrictions the activities in the beginning were pretty limited but now they are getting better and better.
Our loved one did enjoy the meals the served at the community, but the do not have good communication with the families when they are having problems.
The staff was very helpful. The residents were on lock down and they weren't able to participate in all the activities. They were able to have happy hour, sing songs outside, and bingo were some of the activities available. During our loved one's stay we were able to have outdoor visits.
The food seemed to always be cold even if he went to the cafeteria. My dad was not a fan of the food. The staff communicated well until Covid and this made everything harder, including medicine distribution and reordering because we were not able to go see our loved one. This community could work for others but do your research to make sure.
I chose this community because of the location, the price, and they were friendly. The caregivers are excellent. The food is average but they do offer a variety. The building is well maintained but the decor is outdated. The cost for medication administration is very high. I would recommend this community to other families. They do a nice job with activities.
They were fabulous from day one. They made everything easy for us and when my dad needed help they were there immediately for him and us and provided us all of the support we needed. We chose this community because i think is was better then others we visited, it was smaller community, and it fit his needs more than anything. i would absolutely recommend this community to other families.
After my friend and I left this facility, we decided to go with this facility without touring any other places. What really made us want to pick this community is the staff. They have been very good to him and they make him feel welcome. He has been thoroughly pleased with the move so far. At first, he was apprehensive when he found out the building is 35 years old. When walking in, it’s very impressive and they have been doing a lot of the up-keep on the building. There is no smell of poor hygiene and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. I would recommend this facility to other families.
The staff here was pleasant it was a good tour. They answered all of my questions. They had less care here and it looked really worn out. Just didn't get that feeling when I was there. We had to chose another community.
I toured Brookdale with my mother, and while it was a beautiful community, I felt it was too large. My mother needs memory care, and I worried that she might not get as much attention in such a large place. I wasn’t very keen on the memory care unit either. It was just a long hallway that the rooms were attached to. It felt too cold to me and not as cozy as I would have liked. I was also informed during the tour that there would be construction occurring in the memory unit, and that just didn’t sit very well with me. Overall, while this community was large and beautiful with lots of amenities for the residents, I wanted something smaller, cozier, and more like home for my mother.
We toured this community for my father's care. The staff was nice and able to help with the questions on the care that is needed. We liked the environment and the list of healthy meals that are offered. They have a clean environment and we think that the atmosphere is nice. We would suggest that other families tour this community for the care of a loved one.
This is a great community for care. We like the community was clean. We felt like the staff needed more training in certain areas. The staff did not know how to use the equipment when we first arrived. The staff made some improvements for the care for my father. We liked that the staff was friendly. They offer a nice menu. We would suggest that other families tour this community to see if they are able to assist with the needs of a loved one.
We toured this community for the nice tour and we liked the care staff who were able to answer the questions that we had for the care that is given. The menu was nice and we did like the lunch that we received. The community is clean and it made us happy to see a beautiful community. We would recommend this community for the care to other families.
This has been a great place for our mother. She is able to have therapy, eat with the same people everyday and have different activities to help her with her dementia. She likes the food and is now eating. Prior to moving here she would refuse to eat unless we pressed her. She will remain here until her femur is healed. She is very happy here as it allows her a sense of dignity.
We didn't like this community. There was a hospital odor. The other places we toured didn't have that smell and that turned us off when we walked in. We had a tour and it looked okay but it didn't have the "Wow " factor. When we were speaking to the representative she had some questions that I felt were inappropriate. I felt for a first interview that was not acceptable.
Drab colors, doesn't seem like much is going on, restricted hours for meals, not well maintained.
I thought this place was very expensive for what they had to offer. They only had semi private rooms available that where not even furnished and was a little older of an apartment. I just thought for the rent they where asking I would see something a little more impressive. I also did not like that they would charge an additional hundred dollars a month just to distribute medication twice a day. The staff seemed like they did not like there job and where just there for a pay check.
I am very happy living at Brookdale. I have made friends and the staff are very helpful. The food is good and they offer a variety of choices. They offer numerous activities and you can schedule outings to the store and for appointments. The community is clean and I am glad I moved here.
Things are going pretty well since I made the move into the Brookdale Oceanside. Everyone is very friendly and take good care of me. The place is clean and well maintained, so far I don't see anything that they could improve on.
I was not happy with this community. There were issues with the plumbing that were not taken care of. My mom would ring the bell for assistance and they would not reply. They did not attend to her and she had some issues with seeing. We asked if there was another room for heer till the plumbing issues and they could comply. There were alot of billing issues. They charged for extras that were not included and there was not a assisment done before she moved in. They made her wheel chair dependant and that was not the care we needed for her. They seemed to not work about her well being. They wanted 30 day notice before taking my mom out of the community. I would not recommend this community to other families. The food was average. they did not try and get her to be active with others. My mom is no longer at this community.
Since mother is diagnosed with dementia, she will be forced into memory care. She is not ready for a facility such as this and I think she would be very unhappy there as she is not that far along. Facility was clean and well lit. Room was spacious.
