our families experience
My only negative comment is that the management, while doing a lot to help my Mom and we're very grateful to them, were a little pushy about trying to get my Mom to stay there, rather than leave and go to her home in Wisconsin, where she is now and is very happy. I understand they need and want permanent residences but they were a little hard on her.

Don't use this facility for memory/dementia care!!
Staff is nice, but - they do not clean the rooms. Wall and floor in room has dried feces over a week. The staff does not listen to what the residents need or is required. They do the opposite then fuss at the consequences. Some staff is better than others. Care givers much better than nursing staff. Regarding value, they do nothing they said they would and charge 7000 per month. They charge me 1300 a month feeding fee just to keep my mom, who has Alzheimer's, away from others during meal time. They do not feed her as she only drinks ensure and they do not give her that as it should be given.
My loved one has 30 days worth of clothes, underwear and 2 weeks of pajamas. When my sister visited all her clothes were gone. The staff used her diapers and wipes and towels and blankets and gave to other residents. We have to number and date everything. The entire staff of that facility were terminated but 3 people. The new staff only marginally better.
I do not recommend this facility.

Peace of Mind
The staff are very friendly. The communication with the staff and family is good. There was a time that they missed out telling me something that needed to be refilled; however, it was quickly taken care of.
The staff are very caring as well.
The food is very delicious. My loved one seems to enjoy all the food.
The activities director is open to suggestions for new activities for the residents. There are activities every day for the residents to choose from.

Disappointed
The main issue we have had is certain staff I find are hard to get along with even when I am nice to them. They do not take care of my loved one like I wished they would. I have found my loved one sitting in a wet diaper multiple times. I think they should have done a better assessment in the beginning so I wouldn't have to move my loved one. It has just been a bad experience.

Beautiful location. Poor quality of care.
My loved one was in the memory care unit and really did not need that level of care. She needed assisted living instead, and despite our repeated attempts, she never got moved. The memory care residents were mostly herded in wheelchairs and placed in front of TV, totally filling up a room every day, whether they wanted to be placed there or not. They were also lined up in front of the eating area, blocking the other residents. Overall, it was pretty sad. I don't recommend it, especially their memory care.

We had a great tour with Brookdale Destin. The facility itself is a little older and just wasn't her style. It was also not centrally located so we went with another facility.

We toured this community virtually, and it was very nice. We spoke to several different staff members, and they were all nice and friendly. They answered all our questions and were very informative. The community was more expensive than others in the area.

Fantastic staff!
The folks in Destin were absolutely fantastic. They made all the arrangements to get our loved ones moved in with an easy transition. The room they gave him was actually the model room which was very nice, unfortunately our loved one was not able to move in but they did help make arrangements with another facility.

Brookdale Destin virtual tour showed very nice facilities, large apartments and clean well maintained or renovated facilities. The staff provides a fun atmosphere with many social events throughout the week. Staff was very familiar with clients and all seemed happy and enjoying the activities of the day.

The best all around care for elderly family
The staff members at Brookdale Destin are absolutely incredible. This community is has the best value in the area by far and they offer the best quality of care. Their care services are fantastic and they offer a bunch of activities. Some activities they had were travel days, where the bus service would take the residents out shopping, to the grocery store or to their doctors appointments.
It is located in a really nice upscale area, you can walk the property which is surrounded by lakes and bridges. We were able to visit our loved one during COVID which was great. We were allowed to sit outside in a lawn chair and be separated by the screened in porch our loved one had. His room was like a one bedroom apartment with a kitchenette.
The food is top of the line, our loved one is a very picky eater and he never had one complaint. This community goes to a level one medical care in any room and throughout the whole entire facility. It is also located less than a quarter mile from the major hospital.

Brookdale has been good for her
My friend wanted to stay in the Destin FL area, we looked at a couple of facilites and they were not as nice as Brookdale was. In the beginning, she was not happy with moving out of her house. But since COVID hit, she has a ground floor apartment with a porch and she has been very pleased. She has a 2 bedroom unit so she has lots of space especially since the lock down. She likes the staff quite a bit and the porch has been a life saver so she can get some fresh air. She thinks they have done a very good job of keeping her safe during the virus. So overall we are happy with it.

Livable but way too expensive for value receivied
My stay at Brookdale Destin Senior Living was about one year until my wife died. It was livable but not nearly worth what they charge. Read every word of their massive contract because they will come after you if you fail to abide by any of the statements in the bundle of 30 pages.

This is a good fit
My mom has settled in well here in the assisted living, She likes her apt it has a screened-in patio and we have brought in some of her own furniture so it feels more like home to her. Mom enjoys going to the dining room and joining the other residents during mealtime and the food overall is pretty good. there are a lot of amenities offered here for the residents to choose from too. I would definitely recommend taking their tour and seeing this community.

We are doing very well here we love it. The staff is very nice here very helpful when needed. We are doing activities and social events. We have been out to lunch a number of times with the community. The community is very well maintained and clean. We love the food at the community. We would recommend them.

Location Was A Little Further Away
This community was very nice. The appearance of it was good very clean and well maintained. The staff we met were friendly very nice. As we walked around the residents that we spoke too seemed to be content and felt safe and secure here. We didn't have a meal here but from what I saw the food looked and smelled good. The location was a little further than I desired

Brookdale Destin is what an assisted living facility should be.
The facility is clean, well lit and well kept. The staff is polite, helpful and compassionate. My parents have been there for 2 months, and are very happy there. They are in the Clare Bridge wing of the building. The staff there respect the dignity of each person there, and everyone I encountered during my visit was kind and did their job well.

My thoughts
We liked this community when we visited. It seemed clean and the people we met were nice. This community allows pets and they offer some nice activities. They have some nice common areas for the residents to enjoy.
