This is based off of our personal experience. I am still battling them for charging us a move in date of [date removed] and she did not even move in until [date removed] because it was not ready. They charge us a late fee every single month and I have to go in and get it taken off. The rent has gone up after only being here 3 months when we were told it only went up once each year. When we moved in it was not cleaned at all, I had to clean the entire apartment. They said they were going to do a through cleaning before she moved in and they did not. They had 1 maid for 3 months doing everything, she did not get her room cleaned once a week, it happens once a month. Her refrigerator was removed in November because it was not working and has still not been replaced. They have washers and dryers for everyone to use, my mom has not been able to get into the laundry mat once because the maids use it all day long to clean everyone's linens. It is awful, they have gone through many different managers and there is a lot of staff turnover. The staff that they hire are all very young...like 18-20 years old. There is no follow through. There is not much stimulation at all going on. They don't really do any activities with the residents. It is one thing after the other, we are moving out soon.

The staff was very friendly, and eager to help. We picked this community, because it was affordable, the meals were covered, and it was close to me. In addition, it was clean, spacious, and was available.

As far as what this community could improve on their overall communication between the family, the patient and the staff team.

The staff seems to be caring. The maintenance department is in dire need of qualified workers. There have been several maintenance issues with my loved ones cottage. My loved ones toilet has not been flushing for over a month. They have to stick their hand in the tank to pull the flapper. The handle is also broken. These are inexpensive and easy fixed or replaced. There is very long delays and insufficient repairs. These are just some of our dissatisfactions with Brookdale.

January 23, 2023Thank you for choosing Brookdale and taking the time to share your feedback. We would welcome an opportunity to discuss any concerns you may have and encourage you to contact our management team.
Our family had an in person tour and it was just okay, the person who was supposed to give the tour was not there so a lot of our questions did not get answered and when we first arrived the front desk worker did not even acknowledge us

January 9, 2023Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. This has been shared with our management team and they will be reaching out to you.
The staff is slow to respond and answer phone calls when we try to contact them. When we moved in, it was a very difficult move and there were a lot of things were not explained as well as they could have been. I think they could do better with that whole process altogether.

The staff have been really good to work with if I have any questions or concerns. The food needs more variety with more fresh foods available for the residents. This also needs to be delivered in a timely manner so the food is not cold. Changing of lines, housekeeping, the apartment, all the meals, and utilities are included in the monthly fee.

Think twice before you move in here. I wouldn't move in here again. The food is terrible, they don't have a good cook. The food is either over cooked or under cooked. They just now got a recreation director, but we haven't have any events or recreational activities besides bingo. I would like to think that is due to covid but at this point I am not sure.

March 23, 2022We take your comments seriously and are committed to providing quality care and services to our residents. We would welcome an opportunity to discuss any concerns you may have and hope you will contact our management team to further discuss.
Our families experience has been good so far but the number 1 thing about Brookdale is their staff, they are wonderful and super friendly.
The move-in process seems to take way too long to get your loved one acclimated. I would only recommend this community if you have a lot of patients or not many other choices.

The community itself is very clean, but when it comes to the small detail of things that could use some help. The staff members have been great, and sometimes the meals are very good, sometimes they are served cold so it can be a hit or miss. So far it has been a good experience for our loved one. However they are having a problem with their exterior security system. When we take our loved one out to breakfast or dinner they have to wait for someone to let them in. We found out weeks later that the buzzer you push to notify someone to let you in had not been working, so our loved one would sometimes have to wait 20-30 minutes to be let in.

It has been a good experience overall with my father. The facility is understaffed and I couldn't recommend them right now. They have good room sizes, and the food used to be better, but it's ok.

We have had a very good interaction with the staff namely [name removed]. Helpful and compassionate. Housekeeping very helpful. Shuttle driver great The only issue we have is with dinning services. There seems to be a break in the chain between workers and management staff. Food is fair, but the whole food service seems to be in a disorganization. Requests are not honored as stated by management and unhappiness with quality among majority of residents. A good majority of the time food brought to table is cold. My mother has gotten salads from time to time with only lettuce nothing else. When she has requested alternatives which we were assured was OK she does not get them. Last evening she asked for milk and was told they were out. We would hope this will be resolved as the facility seems to be a good place as a whole.

I chose Brookdale Senior Living Rancho Mirage California for my mother and the care and facility are wonderful. The biggest concern I found in reviews was their billing and payment process. I never imagined it would be such a nightmare! They would like you to let them pull payment from your acct. and I know why. If you mail your check, it goes to the facility your loved one is in. They scan it to Wisconsin who then scans it for deposit! Then you get a call saying "your check is being returned due to quality is poor for scanning!" You get a late fee, phone calls and then they deposit at local branch after much agony. Two months later, a call saying you owe this. DON'T LET THEM PULL FROM YOUR ACCOUNT!!! Brookdale.... fix your problem!! Just have payments sent directly to Wisconsin.. NOT local facility!!

I went on a tour here and the staff was nice and helpful. They answered all of my questions. It was nice and clean but had a strong urine odor. It wasn't a good fit. I recommend families tour many places before making a choice.

The caregivers here are good and cautious and will call me before they make any decisions. The only thing we have had an issue with is the pricing they told us one price and it was much more when she moved in but said they would reevaluate her in January and I hope it changes. They have restaurant style food with a lot of variety. Housekeeping does a good job keeping it clean. They engage her to join the daily activities. And they have a salon here to do her hair. Her studio apartment overlooks the courtyard. I would recommend this community.

We like the room set up here. They were really accommodating for my mom and dad they combined 2 rooms together to make sure they had room. They like their rehab they are receiving. The staff is capable and ready to help out. Mom loves that she can keep her meds in her room and just get assisted when taking them. The housekeeping is good here and they wear an amulet necklace so they can call for more assistance. They are fed 3x a day with menu style food selection. The only thing is the portions are on the small size and tends to repeat often. They engage them to join the daily activities. It has a nice common courtyard area. I would recommend this community.

DO NOT PUT YOUR LOVED ONES HERE IN COEUR D'ALENE. They evicted an old lady after she paid for two years in independent living and was ready to move to assisted the day before she was supposed to move. They didn't want someone on social security after they took all her money for two years. The staff is atrocious, the food is not meant for human consumption. They call a bowl of broth with 2 potato bites in it a stew. They claim a hot roast beef sandwich does not have gravy. When they have something featuring "bacon" they might give you 1/3 of a piece of bacon. Please ask other residents how they are treated before you move your loved one in.
