We picked this community, because it was the right size, the staff was very welcoming, the care provided.My loved one is the resident at Brookdale, and as his POA I visited Brookdale and other Assisted Living choices in order to select the right fit for him. We paid over [amount removed] a month for "special" services (routine room check as she was bedridden) that typically weren't performed. 8/10 times her room was dirty, she was lying in her own waste, and she didn't feel well. After we moved her we discovered she was having a lot of trouble breathing and had a raging UTI as well as a horrendous yeast infection. After a caretaker told me to get out, we couldn't get her out of there fast enough. So very disappointing.

Would not recommend
The person who was working nights did not have any understanding of Alzheimer's at all. The administrative staff were not very cooperative. Some of the meals provided were inadequate, they tried to make them way too fancy and the residents want simple. My loved one was here 6 days and I ended up paying [amount removed]. I am not familiar with the new administration, but when I signed my loved one up, I did not get a copy of all of the materials and it was just left in the room. I would not recommend them to other families.

Heads up
If we had to return you would do it again. It is a short term stay took the staff a bit of time to know the needs of care for my loved one. Miscommunication from staff to family. Communication with the community. Upon moving in wasn't a good experience. One thing went missing and they did not know what happened to it.

I would definitely recommend to a family member
The staff members are wonderful and have continued to be so attentive to our loved ones needs. It is like a big family, every time we come to visit they are just very sweet and calm to the residents. Our loved one being the picky eater he is, actually really enjoys the meals and dining service and if there is ever anything he does not like they will substitute it out. He is very happy there, and the staff are just exemplary and professional.

A caring staff that takes a lot of pride in what they do. Everyone is so friendly & really cares about the residents.
It's a close knit group. It's not so big that you're just a number. It's more of a friendly and homey environment. The staff have been great. I haven't had any problems at all. I'd recommend the facility to anyone. It's expensive, but a better cost than I found anywhere else.

We toured Brookdale and everything seemed very dark and gloomy. The rooms were on the smaller side and painted brown so it seemed dark and there were no windows in the living area.

amazing transformation
The staff is amazing and has been really helpful and friendly. The community has lots of activities and they get to go out to a park and enjoy the weather. The community took great care of him and has helped him recover and he is doing better than he has in years. I would recommend this community to others

Vibrant and full of life!
I visited this community while searching for a place for my mother in law. The other residents were well dressed and were smiling and looked happy. There was a resident that was playing the piano, some residents were enjoying that. This place was clean and the staff was knowledgeable and helpful. The cozy community is where I want my mom to be.

Brookdale is a very professional, they communicate very well, caring, and friendly environment.
It is a great place for your loved one to go to.
My loved one has a view of the courtyard from their room. The closest is very spacious for my loved one.
They have a great courtyard.

My husband and I are looking at places for my sister to live. She is in a wheelchair. Needs help with personal care items.
When we arrived we were greeted by very friendly staff. We received a folder with information about the facility, I.e. room dimensions that is very helpful to figure out what furniture would fit. On the tour we were shown different rooms, each one made me feel comfortable. The dining room was bright and cheery. They are very accommodating.

I had an interview at Brookdale Bloomington to decide if it would be a good fit for our loved one. I did not have a comfortable feeling when they stated they were having staffing problems. I knew that my loved one would need good constant care and chose another community.

We are pretty happy with them.
It's a nice community, and very clean. One of the reasons I picked it was the friendliness of the staff, as well as the administrative staff, they are very good. They have a pretty full schedule of activities, my loved one probably can't participate in some of it due to her condition. This isn't strictly an Alzheimer's facility, but they do try to keep my loved one busy, and they are trying to add more activities for those with Alzheimer's. Most of the residents are older than my loved one, and she tends to gravitate towards the staff for socialization as they are younger, and they are great with that. The food seems to be good. There really isn't anything I would like to see improved or done better, we are pretty happy with them.

They have been so compassionate and welcoming to my mother. One major thing that I have noticed is that when any of them pass one of the people living there they always speak and smile to them, using their name. I never saw that at the previous Assisted Living place that my mother was living at. It was easier for them to just look down and walk by. It was disrespectful to those living there. I am so pleased at how things are going.
I would like to see them incorporate more music therapy into their program. At meal times it is so quiet, I think they would maybe liven up a little with soft background music playing.

One week review
After being told that my mother needed too much help by having to have a nurse give her meds twice a day at another local Assisted Living Facility, my siblings & I took a full day to visit several of the other facilities in our town. I would not recommend any other to anyone. I think my mother is in a safe, caring place. I have talked to other family members of several others that are staying there and several seem to have been there for 2 1/2 - 3 years and they are happy with it so far. Only one person told me that they thought the carpets needed to be cleaned in the apartments at least once every 3-4 months. We have only been there one week and my mother's apartment is very lovely and clean. Everyone that I have met seems to have a smile on their face and they speak to all of the people that are living there (using their name). They seem to be very compasionate and genuine. Check back with me in 6 months and hopefully I will have more great things to say.
