Our experience

The staff was very nice and friendly and the rooms were nice sized. I like the size of the community due to it being smaller. The community had some covid cases but the communication was not very good. When my loved one passed the communication from the community stopped and I am having trouble getting anyone to call me back. I think they could have been more compassionate than they were.

The staff was truly caring and wonderful towards our loved one

In terms of the overall physical look to this community is was not a stand out compared to the other places we looked at, however the people were absolutely excellent. The staff members were very good and informative with helping us understand what our loved one was capable of and not capable of. Our loved one was very difficult, she would lash out at people and would not do things that she was supposed to do on every level. We were not able to take care of her ourselves and every person we talked was very compassionate about caring for her, and they had an enormous amount of patience with her.

Helpful staff, under-prepared for memory care

We chose this community because it was close to home and it seemed like a good fit at the time. The room sizes were on the smaller side compared to others that we looked at. The only problem we had was that my sister is young for a dementia patient and they were not equip to deal with her. They wanted us to come pick her up after 9 days. I would not recommend this community for memory care residents.

Home away from home

Prior COVID they had games, they would take the residents on outings. They would make special meals for the residents on special occasions. My mom loves it! The reason why we chose Blue Bell community was because of the environment. It had a very open and inviting feeling. It felt like home!

Blue Bell Place

They have staff that come in regularly and asks if there is anything my dad wants to have cleaned in his apartment and the common spaces at the community always look clean. The staff is always very friendly when we visit and will say hello to you in the hallways; generally a very pleasant place. The only thing that is sometimes an issue is that it can take a bit for the staff to respond to my father's call button. There do seem to be a good variety of activities available for the residents and my dad has made some nice friends with some of the other residents. We do think the community is a good value.

Blue Bell Place

The people there are warm and caring and kind to all residents that I have experienced. The food is just average. Nothing to write home about. The same 3 ice creams everyday on the menu gets a little old. The other dessert choice changes a lot though. The staff are attentive but some things slip through the cracks. I have to be there to make sure everything gets done. Nursing doesn't always get back to me in a timely fashion with answers to my questions. I have to keep on them a bit. Location is great and building is very nice.

Mom Likes Blue Bell Place

We started with respite stays of 2-3 weeks for Mom when we had to travel. After her third respite stay - having thoroughly enjoyed the facility, the activities, dining services, and comradery of the other residents - Mom decided that she'd like to be a permanent resident. The facility is modern, bright, and well appointed. Mom's studio apartment is spacious and bright. The entire staff is friendly and helpful. The weekly activity schedule is varied with fun and interesting projects; they have field trips that range from local shopping outings, movies and plays, dining out at restaurants, to tours of Lancaster County, etc. Transportation to mass on Sundays, and in-house prayer services. Mom is really enjoying her new home and acquaintances that she's made while at Blue Bell Place.

Upscale living at reasonable price. 2 floors with elevator in lobby. Due to small size, finding activities is easy and carers are accessible.
