Beautiful on the outside, shabby on the inside. There is a homey sort of atmosphere inside, but five minutes was all I needed to see that it was not for us. The elderly people were eating their Friday night regular - pizza. I was not happy about it. These people need the best nutrition and they need to make their calories count. One person was playing piano (badly) during dinner. Not sure whether he lived there or was brought in from the outside to entertain the people.

This small care home seemed clean when I visited. The people I met were nice. I did not get a feeling of a family environment we were looking for.

My dad was being discharged from a nursing facility and I had to find a place for him soon. He was suffering from dementia and mobility problems. My girlfriend found Be Well II online. We visited the house and were immediately struck by the spacious, bright, common area, high ceilings and cleanliness. The owners seemed to understand on a personal level what I was going thru, and to know, and handle, what my dad's needs were going to be. The first day I brought dad there, it was dinner time. The residents (of which there is a maximum of only 6) ate at a common table (when able). I was invited to stay for dinner. I saw dad eat, smile, talk, and I observed how the staff interacted with him and the other residents. My first impression was I had made the right choice of care facilities. During dad's residence, I visited him often every week and got to know the staff and how they operated. They tended to each resident's needs on an individual basis, as well as engaging them in group activities (and even taking them out in the nice little backyard when the weather was good). Staff interacted with each resident often during the day (except during quiet time), were never far away, and were always on alert if someone was in danger of falling, choking or had any signs of health issues (sometimes it seemed like they had eyes in the back of their heads). The staff members also cared for the residents on an emotional level, which gave the place a family feel. This, for me, was a huge plus and I was extremely happy to see my dad form close bonds with some of them (& I did as well). It is never an easy decision to place a parent in a care facility. When they are in one, and you are going thru this experience, you are always on high alert, in defensive mode and questioning constantly what is being done for them. Looking back, from beginning to the end of my dad's stay at Be Well II, I am confident he got the best care and treatment possible. When my dad's condition began to incrementally fail, they constantly stepped up and knew what to do, and always strove to preserve his dignity. Over the course of dad's stay, I was told by more than one nurse how lucky I was to have found this place, and I agree.

I could not have asked for a better partner than the people at Be Well Sr. Living, for that is truly what they were, partners in taking care of my mother as her care needs escalated and increased. I looked at ten different places when I had to move my mother from a big, assisted living place and chose Be Well because they are clearly different. The team of owners all have Medical backgrounds and were able to advise me on the hundreds of decisions on everything from medication levels or drug reactions, to physical therapy and what to do when we had to put my mom in hospice, which we were able to do in the comfort of their homes. They also check and monitor weight, dietary needs, whether people are eating properly, drinking enough fluids so they won't get dehydrated, blood pressure, etc. on a regular basis, just like in a Hospital. They have Activities (including classes and lectures for mental stimulation) and Exercise on a frequent, regular basis plus bring people in to entertain or teach the tenants with music programs and sing-alongs, movies, classes. (I was appalled to find some places consider parking patients in front of a TV constitutes Exercise and Activity.) Be Well houses are light, bright and airy with gardens in the backyard and are truly comfortable, homey homes. Board and Care, limited to six patients maximum so attention is responsive and paid to everyone on a 24/7 basis, including staff on night shift to monitor and help in case anything is needed. I cannot thank everyone at Be Well enough for all the great care they gave my mother while she was there.

After looking at several other options, as soon as I walked into this one, I knew it was the place for my mom. Physically, I was impressed with the high ceilings, sunlight, large shared community space, and ample furniture for visitors to be comfortable as well as residents. Since moving her in, I have been especially impressed with the staff because they aren't merely kind and friendly, they also know what they are doing! I can finally relax knowing that my mother is well taken care of by professionals that are warm, treat her with respect, and truly have her best interest at heart.

It's such a blessing to find Be Well. The staff is absolutely amazing and treat my mom like it's their own family. Knowing that my mom is safe and secure gives me such a peace of mind. She was so lonely at home with 24 hour care. Taking her out to do things was getting too difficult for her. Having a house filled with genuine people and participating in the daily home activities, makes her feel so much happier and alive now. She especially loves the Therapy Dog visits and of course the Bingo days!

Everything is great. The only thing is Activities, because they haven't found a way to get my father to participate. The Well Senior Living is a great place. The staff is friendly and caring and we are very happy. I think my father would feel happier if there was another male resident, because there are only 4 other residents and they are all women. Overall, it's a great place.

Clean facility, caring staff. Limited activities and extremely limited if resident has dementia. Owners are caring but not always responsive to issues such as access gate or staff ratio concerns. Night person does not speak adequate English.

Response from Be Well Senior Living II, Inc
March 5, 2014Thank you for taking the time to share your review with us. Exited to hear that you found our home to be clean with caring staff. I am sorry that your experience with us was not to our usual standards. Our back door has a wheelchair accessible ramp, as per licencing requirements, and we have now also installed an additional ring bell at the back door to notify our night shift personnel if someone is at the back after visiting hours. With our night shift personnel, we are only required to have someone staying on premises in case of emergency, but in order to provide a better service to our clients we have hired a separate caretaker for night shift to check on our residents every two hours during the night, do all of the necessary night care routine, help our residents if they wake up and be there in case of emergency. Besides her we always have one of our live-in day shift caretakers in the facility that can assist if needed. In regards to activities for our residents, we understand your concerns. We have planned activities every day, but understand if you feel that it was not enough for residents with cognitive impairment. It is a learning experience and we are planning to provide more training and education to our staff including caretakers and managers. Regardless, we were not able to offer you our usual exemplary service and for that I apologize.
We were so pleased when we first entered the facility for our first tour. There was a sense of "home" in the air, unlike some of the other places I visited that felt so cold and depressing. Classical music in the background while residents were playing their board games on the table. The staff had lovely smiles on their faces and were so attentative to the residents every needs. I absolutely loved the tall ceilings and bright common area. Each resident had their own room but it felt that the common area was where most wanted to be throughout the day...a sense of togetherness. The patio area and garden were lovely as well. The best part of our tour was how patient and compassionate the administrator was during our whole tour. We had so many questions and were so overwhelmed prior to the visit. The Administrator completely understood our situation and put us at ease by answering all our questions and concerns.
