My dad only lived here for a few months but during that time it was an amazing experience. The staff were great with communication and always called me when needed. I would definitely recommend Avista Prescott to other families.

They were great to work with and very patient. The staff were very helpful. The food was okay, just average cafeteria food. But I really appreciated how much they stayed in touch with us. It took us a long time to place my mother because she was adamant about not going. When it became clear that she needed memory care instead, which Glassford doesn't offer, they were instrumental in getting us to the right place for my mom to receive the care that she needed.

Our loved one was only there a short time. Unfortunately there was an accident and we had to move her to the hospital, so I don't feel like we had enough time there to recommend or not recommend. But I really liked the owner. She was a very sweet, caring lady, and I would give that a lot of value. Overall the staff was very good. It was a small community, with only four residents at the time. It was a very beautiful home, and my loved one had a very nice room, with lots of room to roam around.

Discover the many ways to pay for senior living

Planning ahead can better position you to make good choices for your loved one’s care in the future. But if your aging family member needs care now, there are ways to finance the cost of long-term care through a combination of approaches.

What are care homes?

Residential care homes are houses in residential neighborhoods that are equipped, adapted, and staffed to care for a small number of residents, usually between two and 10. Like assisted living communities, staff at care homes typically help residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and medication management. Although residential care homes vary significantly depending on the community, services usually include:

  • Help with personal care
  • Medication management
  • Mobility assistance
  • Nutritious meals
  • Social activities and outings
  • Housekeeping
  • Laundry

Learn More About Care Homes in Prescott, AZ

Prescott offers the conveniences and attractions of a large, modern city but with a smaller-town feel. Easy access to nearby larger cities such as Flagstaff as well as nature areas like Watson Lake create a diverse and fulfilling environment in which to retire.

In Prescott, residential care homes — sometimes called care homes, board and care homes, group homes, or personal care homes — are often houses in residential neighborhoods that are adapted, equipped, and staffed to care for a small number of residents, usually 10 or less. Similar to assisted living but in a smaller, more residential setting, these homes provide supervision, organized events, and assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs). This means care homes can help with everyday routines but typically do not provide 24-hour skilled nursing assistance.

Cost of Care Homes in Prescott, AZ

The median monthly cost for a room in a care home is about $3,000 in both the Prescott metropolitan area and the state of Arizona. However, the cost of living in a care home depends largely on location. Since the homes are private residences, costs are tied to real estate value and therefore may vary greatly.
