An assisted living community is a residential living community which offers supervision, care, and support to self-sufficient seniors who do not need skilled nursing support. The services offered often include assistance with activities of daily living. Occupants may be kept under observation and assessment. Under certain circumstances, communities may provide Alzheimer’s care, hospice, or continuing care. In Pennsylvania, the annual median cost for an assisted living community is around $40,020 . The state of Pennsylvania has specific regulations related to this kind of community. Department of Human Services, Bureau of Human Services Licensing licenses this community type.
