Assisted Living

Assisted living facilities arrange organized living communities and health care for your loved one who require a helping hand with things such as meal preparation or taking medication. Assisted living facilities usually offer help with appointments and transportation, supervision of care, and assistance with the activities of daily life. Under certain circumstances, facilities may provide hospice, continuing care, or Alzheimer's care. In Pennsylvania, the annual median cost for an assisted living facility is around $40,020 . Pennsylvania has a number of stipulations associated with this type of facility. Department of Human Services, Bureau of Human Services Licensing regulates this type of facility. This facility has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include meals must meet recommended dietary allowances established by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and must provide three meals a day. There must be one toilet for every 1 residents and one bath or shower for every 1 residents. This type of facility is required to offer a number of services. These include housekeeping, basic cognitive support, assistance with unanticipated ADLs for a defined recovery period, and nutritious meals and snacks. Staff are required to receive education in a variety of subjects. These include: infection control, emergency procedures, fire safety, and abuse and reporting requirements.
