Assisted living facilities provide residential communities and health care for persons who require help with mobility or showering. The services provided often involve help with the activities of daily life. Inhabitants may be kept under supervision and assessment. In certain situations, facilities may provide respite, "aging in place", or skilled nursing care. In Montana, the annual median cost for an assisted living facility is around $39,000 . In total, there can be no more than 2 residents to a room.This type of facility is required to have a staff member on duty 24 hours a day. This type of facility is required to offer a number of services. These include medication assistance, recreational activities, assistance with ADLs, and assistance using mobility/assistive devices. Before a resident is accepted, they must go through a service plan screening to make sure their needs are going to be met. This screening includes a number of areas of interest such as sensory patterns, use of restraints/assistive/safety devices, health problems, and cognitive patterns. Staff are required to obtain education in a variety of areas. These areas include areas relevant to any duties or responsibilities, the montana elder and persons with developmental disabilities abuse prevention act, the montana long-term care resident bill of rights act, and the use of the abdominal thrust maneuver.
