Assisted living communities offer residential living communities and health care for seniors who might need a helping hand with everyday activities such as showering or cooking meals. Public assistance is available through Medicaid 1915(c) Waiver programs (Elderly, Traumatic Brain Injury, Community Alternatives for Disabled Adults, and Community Alternative Care). Staff must receive education in a number of fields. These include: he home care bill of rights, reporting abuse/neglect, basic infection control, and changes in body function. This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include housing with service establishments that use the term assisted living must provide two meals per day. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include laundry , assistance with self-administration of medication, weekly housekeeping, and assessments of the residents physical and cognitive needs by a registered nurse.
