Assisted living communities have the luxury of coordinated social interaction and apartment style housing as well as individualized care. Assisted living communities usually offer help with daily activities, aid with transportation and appointments, and chances for social activity. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include supporting a resident’s personal and social needs, guidance, reminding resident of important activities to be carried out, and assisting a resident to keep appointments. This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include Food must be prepared in accordance with the recommended daily dietary allowances of the Food and Nutrition Board of the National Academy of Sciences National Research Council, communities must provide medical nutrition therapy if prescribed by a licensed health care professional, and three daily meals and snacks must be provided. The minimum number of residents for this community type is 21. Public assistance is available through Medicaid State Plan.
