This community type has a number of provisions pertaining to medication assistance. These provisions include proper training of direct care workers to handle and administer medications, medication supervision and administration, and reminding a resident to maintain his/her medication schedule in accordance with the prescription. The minimum number of residents for this community type is 21. Staff must obtain training in a variety of fields. These include: personal care, staff training program based on the residents’ service plans, staff training program based on the home’s program statement, and first-aid. Public assistance is available through Medicaid State Plan.
