These provisions include community staff may place the dose of medication in another container and place that container to the mouth of the resident, assistance with self- administration of medication, and if the resident is physically impaired but cognitively able, staff may assist the resident in removing oral medication from the container and in taking the medication. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include assistance with social activities , assistance in obtaining emergency care , assistance with obtaining transportation, and linen service. Public assistance is available through 1915(c) Waiver program –the Living Choices Assisted Living Waiver program. This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include three balanced meals, snacks, and fluids are required. Staff must receive education in a variety of fields. These areas include medication assistance and monitoring, Residents’ Bill of Rights, communicable diseases, and reporting requirements. Before a resident is accepted, they must go through a service plan screening to guarantee their needs are going to be met. This screening includes a number of areas of interest such as alternatives offered to deal with the risk, An initial needs assessment, reassessment must be completed at least annually and more often as changes occur., and resident’s preference to the identified course of action.
