Assisted living communities provide organized living communities and health care to seniors who require support with dressing or taking medication. Assisted living communities often provide care supervision, assistance with appointments and transit, and outings for recreational activity. In certain cases, communities may offer Alzheimer’s care, “aging in place”, or respite. In Arizona, the annual median cost for an assisted living community is around $45,000 . Arizona maintains a number of provisions associated with this type of community. The The Division of Public Health Licensing Services and Bureau of Residential communities Licensing licenses this community type. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include supervisory care services, cognitive stimulation activities, personal care services, and behavioral health services. Before a resident is accepted, they must go through a service planning screening to make sure their needs are going to be met. This screening includes a number of areas of interest such as The amount, type, and frequency of services that will be provided to the resident, The level of service the resident is expected to receive, and initial comprehensive mental and physical assessment. This community type has a number of provisions pertaining to medication assistance. These provisions include assistance with self administration, medication procurement, and medication administration. These include: orientation that is specific to duties, cardiopulmonary resuscitation for adults, in-service education, and first-aid. This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include meals must meets the nutritional needs of residents, meals must comply with therapeutic diets specified in their service plan, and communities must provide meals and snacks in accordance with federal dietary guidelines.
