Independent Living

An Independent Living Community allows residents the opportunity to continue to live their active lives while assuring their care requirements have been fulfilled. Basic needs such as meal planning and housekeeping are handled by staff and a calendar of recreational and social activities is maintained, allowing residents the autonomy to use their time as they see fit, free from daily obligations. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy the opportunity to be among peers, surrounded by others of similar ages and backgrounds. Within the individual units, residents have access to a private living space and a full kitchen, and can even live with a companion if they choose. While policies vary between locations, numerous residences allow pets as well. Nursing and health care services can always be arranged for with private care providers if desired. There are a variety of expenditures and benefits to keep in mind when deciding on an independent living community. It is important to learn if these services are included in your care plan: laundry, meals, move-in fee, transportation, utilities, wellness program, Waiting list deposit, and cable TV. The amenities that pertain to independent living include game/TV room, laundry service, transportation, restaurant-style dining hall, fitness center & swimming pool, golf course, community activities, and security guards.
