An Independent Living Community allows residents the opportunity to continue to live an active life while ensuring their care requirements are being fulfilled. Basic tasks such as meal preparation and housekeeping are handled by staff and a calendar of recreational and leisure activities is provided, allowing residents the autonomy to use their time as they wish, free from daily obligations. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy the opportunity to be among peers, in a community with others of similar ages and interests. Within the individual units, residents have access to their own private living space and a full kitchen, and can even live with a partner if they choose. While policies vary between locations, many residences allow cats and dogs as well. If residents decide they would like to enlist the services of independent health care professionalls, they always have the option. There are an assortment of expenses and advantages to consider while choosing an independent living community. It is important to learn if these services are included in your service plan: laundry, initial assessment fee, cable TV, move-in fee, Waiting list deposit, housekeeping, internet access, and field trips. The luxuries that pertain to independent living include laundry service, game/TV room, security guards, healthcare center, transportation, golf course, fitness center & swimming pool, and concierge services.
