Washington Square Co-Op Apartments
710 Collins St. Kalamazoo MI 49001
Located just off Portage Street is Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo County, Michigan's Washington Square Co-op Apartments, which specializes in senior housing. It's nestled in a park-like setting with its old, beautiful trees and garden areas which are used by residents, along with the picnic areas and other amenities. A private van or bus service makes weekly trips into town for shopping and other activities. Within walking distance, you can find the Bronson Hospital, grocery stores, Kalamazoo's historic library, and farmers market.
A staffed office handles residents' concerns, but because these are co-op apartments, the staff here is minimal. There is a private van for building to building transport, to take residents around the property from their apartment to activities and back again. The staff is receptive and caring, and there is always an answer for the emergency pull cord in each unit.
Washington Square amenities, activities:
- Air conditioner
- Summer cookouts on the patio
- Coin-operated laundry
- Bus service available into town
- Pets under 20 lbs. allowed
Residents have a tight knit personal and business relationship through co-ownership. Living in a co-op apartment means living in a complete and total independent state. What makes that a bit less daunting is that residents at Washington Square Co-op don't have to worry about monthly water/gas/heat bills because they are all included except for electricity.
