Place stinks with corruption!!!!!!!
The only things nice in this place are the patients and some of the staff.
The facility smells like urine, your love ones property and money will come up missing. The administration steels the monthly allowance of the patients. Watch out! this place is corrupt! If you love your family member, don't send them here. This place is no 5 star, don't believe it, they probably paid someone to lie. Check all the floors before considering this place. The first floor looks nice but once you go on the elevator, you will need a mask to contain the smell, it reeks with soiled diapers!

Deeply corrupt admin
This place, unfortunately like so many like it in this country, is run by a deeply corrupt administration.
Any place designated for seniors and disabled people which doesn't bother to update the construction enough for the bathroom doors to accommodate a wheelchair...I mean, COME ON!
It is so filthy, your feet stick on the floor when walking, and when you ask a maitenence man about it, they just talk about how the floors haven't been redone (duh) ("it's not my responsibility to keep this place clean")
They doesn't bother with offering any kind of cable or streaming services to its residence
The dietitians do not seem know (or care) that giving slices white bread to a diabetic is the same as giving them sugar
They pay their activities staff so poorly that they have turnover several times per year
This is not a place anyone can leave a loved one with any sort of peace of mind.
They do tricky things to get folks on their private pay scale, watch out! I had to hire an attorney for my family member who was there to help her.
I've begun to realize that the nursing home industry is among the most sociopathic of all the industries we have, and that truly says a lot. I was lucky in the past, and dealt with mostly not-for-profit nursing homes in the past, but when a corrupt corporate power structure is in charge of the CARING FOR such a vulnerable portion of the population, when all it truly cares about is profit, of course this is how it plays out. So sad, and so sickening. I do not know how that [name removed] can sleep at night.

Suffering Residents
I agree this place is ridiculous. They don’t check on the residents, do proper cares or answer call lights. The CNA’s are lazy nurses have bad attitudes. This place and all places like it should be closed. Sad to say but I know when people are all about the money. Neglecting the residents and the DON/Administrator don’t seem to care. Before you put your family some where please do your homework. Because we didn’t and who suffers, the patient?? 08/30/2019....

smelly, overcrowded and very little attention to patients.
My elderly relative admitted with a broken leg was put on a floor with all dementia patients. her roommate was loud and confused.
Then they moved her to a 4 bed room with 4 tv's going all the time and she had no therapy or evaluation in 3 full days.
The whole place smelled like urine. I would never trust them with anyone. I wouldn't leave my dog there overnight.

AMAZING!
My mom was in a car accident and broke her pelvis. The doctors recommended putting her in a rehab facility so she could get round the clock care that she needed. The hardest decision i ever had to make was choosing a "home" for my mom. The social worker at the hospital suggested that i visit a few different places before i made a decision which is what i did. Other facilities don't compare to the grove. Although other facilities "look nicer and newer" don't be fooled. The grove of Evanston and the entire staff is AMAZING!! My mom has PT 7 days a week and they truly took care of her. The staff not only took the time to get to know my mom but also my family and they were always accommodating. They checked on her constantly and made sure she was comfortable. They provided her with anything she needed and were always happy to do so. She never complained about the food and my mom is quite a picky eater. When my mom was getting ready to be released, The Grove went above and beyond to find a home health carrier that accepts my moms insurance which isn't medicare and made her home coming that much smoother. I will always be thankful for the care my mom received at the Grove of Evanston and will continue to support them. The physical therapists, cnas and the administrative staff truly go above and beyond for their patients. Thank you Grove of Evanston. You've made my moms accident easier to handle.

Don't take your loved ones here!
My mom came out of here with more problems than when she came in. She needed to learn how to walk again and by the time we finally got her out of here she had unaddressed health problems with her back and her neck/ear.
Both of these problems were consistently ignored by the nurses; she had a bump right by her spine that had come from a fall and the nurses (who were supposidly bathing her) denied that there was a problem and that she had even fallen!!!!!
I would NEVER take my loved one here and I feel bad for the people who are still there and don't have family members who can get them out. This place is a shame and I should have moved her to Sunrise a lot earlier.
