  • Luxury Living? I don't think so!

This facility is very overrated. At first appearance, it looks luxurious, but it is not. Having a gas fireplace in the lobby is not luxurious living (residents do not live in the lobby)! While the units are acceptable, the essentials like food and spa bathing are not good. First, the food: when the good cook left his post 6 months ago, the food quality went down 60% in quality. The mediocre food is often served cold, when it should be hot, with VERY long waits to be served. Residents are paying for this service and it is not there. It is comparable to the quality of food served in some of the poorest quality extended care facilities that we have in this province, and THAT is comparable to the quality of food served in the residential schools we had for our First Nations children! What is going on? Second, the Bath Spa is completely nonoperational and has been for some time. Everyone (especially the elderly) need a really good soak in the tub from time to time. This is not a luxury, but a necessity. Apart from Christmas, there are few musical presentations for the residents who cannot get out. In conclusion, the Florentine, aside from the spectacular view, it is NOT luxurious. I would have to say that by reputation, it is highly overrated.

  • Mom has only been there for a week so hasn't had much experience in the activities yet. The ones that have happened in that time have been great for mom and the staff have made sure she goes to them. Our family feels that mom is safe where she is and is in the best place for her needs.
